Okay let's tell the truth who has tried I did I can punch but I didn't like getting hit so there you go .
What do you mean tried boxing? Everyone has TRIED boxing....the better question is whether they chose to refine their skill or not in a gym.
If you want to go there I was at 12 and park back in the day ,any body know anything about the lou know that was the spot in the 80s .Like I said who took the time to train get hit and learn to took there chin.
When I was in the Air Force, I found a gym nearby. The dude was "undefeated" with an astonishing 1-0 record. He was a joke. Instead of teaching me the basics, he legit tried showing me all these BS defensive moves and ****, which I felt were a little too advanced. I was like, "why aren't we working on my ****ing jab?" I went twice and called him and told him to keep my money, I wasn't coming back.
currently training to be an amateur, got hit with a bomb on wedsnesday, my jaw is still sore and i probably need to buy a new mouth guard. I think i bit too hard when i molded it haha dumb mistake
:huh Do you mean everyone has been to at least one boxing class? Because I don't even think that's the case on here. I think it's a minority of us that have ever even laced up gloves. An even smaller minority that have done hard sparring/gym wars type ****. An even smaller minority than that have competed as amateurs. Fewer still have boxed professionally. And then there's the tiny handful of ESB posters who are actual "name" boxers. (ie been heard of by other posters outside of here, even if just domestic level) ...or did you mean "everyone's tried boxing" as in everybody posting here has been in a fight and imitated moves they saw in boxing matches? Because even there...I don't think it's a safe assumption that everyone on here has even been in a physical fight in their life. You're really underrating the fat/nerdy/useless/non-confrontational ***** contingents on here. :yep
I box, but I'm realistic about my skill, and potential. . . I didn't seriously start going to a gym until a year or so back. . . I'm 25, and I'm pursuing a career in law (second year in law school), so obviously I don't plan on turning professional. . . I take working out, and sparring seriously, and always try to improve, but I think everybody knows you can't "box part-time" if you really want to go far with it. . . I've never fought a real "sanctioned" match, amateur, or professional. . BUt in out gym (and a few surrounding gyms) we have 3-5 round tournaments, etc. . . I win some, and lose some. . . Before I finish school, I'd love to have a few ammy fights. . .
It's only "the first punch" that kinda bothers me. . . After I get warmed up, and get cracked a solid time, I just like zone in, and don't really feel the punches after that. . .
Ive done quiet a bit of serious training and sparring for a long time. No fights. Certainly need to be a tough **** to do it. Ive heard some people who have had fights (pro and amature) say its the hardest thing they have ever done. Other guys dont find it so difficult, they can just naturally deal with the pain involved in training and fighting and dont get nervous as easily as other people. Career wise I dont think anyone should bother doing it unless they show signs they have natural talent for it. Otherwise you are not going to make any serious money and take alot of damage in the process. There are easier and more comfortable ways to make money that dont leave you with damage youll have to live with for the rest of your life
I agree. .. If oyu don't have the natural talent, nor (probably more importantly) the time (and will) to devote your life to it, don't bother trying to make a career out of it; you'll end up getting hurt. . . dearly. . . Also, you're right about the permanent damage. . I mean just think about it? Getting hit in the head over, and over? That shite is irreversible. . . SPeaking of which, just saw dude get sparked, and his eyes rol back in his head on fridya night fights. . . Shite is BRUTAL. . . It's EXPONENTIALLY WORSE than MMA, or football ever thought about being. . .
I started this for true fans if you have tried to box you do know the little things other people don't know.Like I stated keep your chin tucked in feints to keep your balance. Things that you think are so easy but are a hitch to do when someone is on your Ase.
Yeah. I reckon those people who want to ban boxing would be twice as adament about it if they actually tried doing it. Even if the punches dont bother you and you can take it there is part of you that is thinking "**** this is very unhealthy" lol. It can feel pretty disgusting sometimes when youve been pummelled around. If you havent sparred in a while you can expect a very bad headache for a few days and your body sometimes feels tenderized by a meat hammer if youve taken alot of bodyshots. When you sparr consistantly your body adapts and you wont get headaches etc much. One guy I know got hit at the end of a round in sparring when he was walking back to his corner. He was gone and went down to the canvas for a bit. After that he had a brutal headache that took 6 months to go away. Makes you wonder what some of these pro fighters feel after a beating in the ring. Probably one of the worst things is the fatigue. There is not many things as systematically draining as boxing or fighting. It feels like torture when your completly ****ed and wanna collapse but you cant because someone is trying to punch your head in so you have to force yourself to keep going. Its usally best to stop sparring before you get to that point of extreme exhastion but sometimes it just happens.
Ive been in & out of boxing all my life ,well from 12 till 39 anyway,,add plenty of amateur's fights nearly turned pro,,,all i needed was a trainer to get me by the neck & say were going to make you champion of the world ,but that never happened so i got in with a bad crowd & had some drink & drugs for a while nothing to heavy,,,,Ive always turned back to boxing & this time I'm going to give some of my boxing experiences to train the guys at the gym don't want to tread on any of the other coach's boots ,,so I'm being polite about my manner of approach,,,Ive been to alot of gyms over the years & gone back to the first gym i started at 12years old i would rather train or coach with the more advanced boxers ,,Ive had enough knocks on the head over the years to know how to teach what ever boxer is in front of me
