I just want to state a couple of things about Frank Mir , i may be coming across as a bit of a hater here

I rate Mir and i like Mir , i have battled with many who have ridiculed his standing in the MMA landscape of HW's , but he's done , he has no agility , he has no engine , he is over sized with muscle density which hurts his cardio and his stamina , he cannot wrestle and if he is pushed in a fight cardio wise with a striker of note (Jr dos Santos ringing any bells), he will be hurt badly sooner or later (sooner would be my guess), AND he also has absolutely no chin , this could be a bit of a problem being that he's a HW

On a positive note , he is still an elite grappler with excellent submission skills , questionable off his back against a top heavy wrestler but still elite IMHO , his striking has improved probably more than any HW fighter i can care to remember in world MMA , the man now has the variety and technique to cause problems for even accomplished strikers

The turning point .................. IMHO the best Mir to grace the cage was Lesnar 2 , he suffered a beat down yes , but he weighed 240 for that fight , quick on his feet , agile , had some cardio finally , stamina etc etc etc , after he lost to Lesnar he decided " I'm too small " i need to go and gain 25 lbs of muscle , !!!!! who ever was feeding Frank this BS needs firing !!! , he's never looked the same since , infact he's gradually gotten worse , his displays against Nelson and Cro Cop were gusty but lacked quality , the type of quality that if you don't have , the elite of the division will destroy you !!!!

Then came Nog 2 , a fight he would of certainly lost by TKO if Nog hadn't gone to the ground with him , question , whats gonna happen when dos Santos hits him on the chin ??????

No he would not , there explosive well schooled strikers who can both wrestle better than Mir , particularly Cormier who is an elite wrestler

He cannot beat these type of fighters these days

 

Massive respect to Mir. Up there with hendo as far as balls and fighting pride go. Don't think he's shot either

I like Mir and JDS but I expect JDS to hurt him and finish him without engaging in any grappling.

 

Mir is a slow and looks shot as this wil be a non event.
