Does Floyd Mayweather have any technical flaws?

Just as I figured. You said everything I was about to say. Also he doesn't make crucial mistakes like laying on the ropes. If he just had more wind he'd be damn near unbeatable especially in his prime. With all that said though **** Oscar. I respect his ring accomplishments but **** him otherwiose.

 

A lot of people believe Cotto's pressure will be less effective than Hatton's due to the footspeed difference. But I think Cotto's technical pressure behind a left jab and hands held high is going to give Floyd more problems than Hatton's swarming and roughhousing style based on the Castillo fight.

 

Stance movement throwing aa punch with the minimum of wasted motion ect.

The things that Floyd does cannot be replicated without a lot of work and physical talents close to that of Floyd.

In that sense Floyd is not the most technical fighter since his style depends on physical gifts 99 % of the people out there dont have.

 

i dont like it when de la hoyas trainers try changing his style, like in the whitaker fight he kept switching stance and tried to be more defensive, it didn't work, floyd sr tried to get him to roll his shoulder in a few fights i think, it didn't work out too well.

 

his only flaw is that he doesnt throw punches in combination enough.

 

what was hilarious is when DLH went southpaw and Whitaker quickly dropeed him with alightning combo.

 

in the judah fight he threw combos and also hed the high guard.

 

FM Technical flaws:
1. Slaps when he should punch: happens often in a fight and he still gets full credit and points for it!
2. When he lunges forward for a surprise strike he leaves himself open for a well timed uppercut...nobody has landed that uppercut yet, but eventually someone will either have the skill/speed to time it, or someone will get lucky and FM will wake up to the smelling salts.
3. He bends over at the waist to avoid taking punishment..this in itself isn't overly bad, but sometimes he repeats this evasive maneuver repeatedly and once again he is open to a downward haymaker from an opponent that is not off balance after missing on the initial punch...hasn't happened yet, but the flaw still opens him up to that sort of lucky or well timed punch.
4. Putting his hands down to showboat when he thinks he has his opponent beaten....this is dangerous because you never know when your opponent may shock you in a fight...never leave yourself that open...one day he may be caught...and that is more foolishness than any type of technical flaw.

That's a good point. He could do himself some good by using the jab more to keep a distance because Hatton was getting inside on him and controlling the space between them.

I think he could have gotten Hatton out of there even earlier if he threw more combinations and used his jab earlier.

 

Floyd does not like high intensity wars or getting ruffed up on the inside, but he is very adaptable and knows how to neutralise almost every threat. He is very difficult to beat on points because he connects cleanly with his well choosen punches.

Only a fast puncher with huge KO power has a real chance of beating Floyd, but unforunately David HAYE CAN NOT GET DOWN TO 147

 

I can't think about any weakness he has, actualy. He is the complete fighter.

 

When Hatton was hurt in the later rounds Floyd threw many combos to finish him off. He wanted to start of with pot shots to break Hattons spirit and throw him off his tactics.

Too Smart? He lives in Vegas, brags about making it rain money and has a bigger entourage P. Diddy. Floyd will be making comebacks when Chelsea Clinton is running for President.

 

Floyd needs to work on defending the jab a punch all his opponents neglected but one that Oscar will use a lot come their April bout.
