Actually it was in reference to this quote from Malignaggi himself:

Sound a bit ironic in retrospect, wouldn't you say?

I totally get where you are coming from, but think Paulie and Pac are apples and oranges when it comes to this. Paulie moved up one weight class as he got older, scored an accumulation TKO, and has a history of hand problems. Pac has jumped up several weight classes and damn near put Hatton in a coma.

A lot of fighters move up one weight class.

Looks like he was jabbing his way to victory and smoger just stopped it too quick. I wonder if those WildCard gym workouts have been helping him the power dept.

I gotta agree. Did not see the whole fight but that looked premature. Hearing how ppl been raving this TKO I thought he stopped him in devastating fashion. Not like this, heh. Is what it is tho..

No, you didn't. You heard people raving about his sum performance, which you didn't bother to seek out.

Nobody said it was a knockout of the year candidate or anything.

It was about the journey, not the destination. :deal

All the fans who approach the sport like fast food junkies need to learn to appreciate entire boxing matches and not consider yourself experts based on highlight packages and 2 minute snippets.

I'm guessing the photo we're seeing of the wounds were in a more soothed state than when they clearly opened up as far as the nose-bleed from those unimpeded straights in front of Smoger and one of the judges. Also look where the cut is, even if he had limited perception through the swelling that's three full rounds of fighting with one eye. I watched Dawson fight last night and the way the cut ringed just outside his eye socket, was probably the luckiest cut, as early as it was, from an angled clash I've seen in awhile. How did you all watch this fight? I'm scheming on ways to see Bute-Froch live or recorded.

What's up Intentional! I see your point and you actually made a very good point. I just think they could have given him the rest of the round...sometimes desperation punches land...rare, but they do. I think Senchenko could have continued and he earned the right to ride that round to the end.

I see your point though. No argument from me there...If I were the ref, I would have let it go that final round.:good

I watched the fight and it wasn't a typical stoppage but it was a fitting one. Senchenko basically put his gloves down and looked at the ref twice before Paulie flurried a combination over him (After a sustained one-sided fight with Senchenko looking worse as the rounds wore on). It seemed transparently over when Senchenko started hurling wild shots in desperation and then just stopped punching before looking at the ref and getting busted up a few more times before Smoger finally stepped in.

haircut midfight for cornrow extensions that were flying in his face causing him to take flush shots....don't get more hilarious or G than that.

It was a great fight and a fantastic performance by Paulie. Senchnko wanted out, he had been dabbing at his eye for a couple of rounds previous his body language was of a defeated fighter and smoger also had the doctor take a look at the eye the round prior. I thought it was a good stoppage.

    OK, thanks.

He still won't get past Alexander, but impressive nonetheless.
