Honestly it would be sad, 1 he got a belt for fighting a welter, 2 he defended It against ONE ranked opponent, his legacy would be non existant, a loss would place him on square one and he would have to climb to the top defeating ranked contenders and eventually take a champions belt In order to have a place in history, atleas Vargas had proven himself when he faced Tito

Canelo needs to beat Kirkland next or Lara/Vanes like planned and then I'd have little problem with the Mayweather fight. Floyd better fight Pac/Sergio first though

Arum is not going to let Pac fight Money. Floyd is not fighting Sergio. Floyd is not fighting in September. Canelo is not fighting Vanes or Lara. And I can see Floyd fighting the winner of Canelo vs Kirkland which should be Canelo

    Ready for an asswhooping?

Cinco De Mayo 2013 makes more sense. Canelo should fight someone like Kirkland later on this year, makes more sense for that division.

Don't be silly, if Kirkland gets to him the Floyd payday goes out the window.

    It will happen for sure.

He needs to make sure he's ready for Mosley. Because about 9 weeks ago, Shane said in regards to this fight, "I'm ready to get ready". That was 9 weeks ago! Imagine how ready he is now. Canelo better be ready for Mosley's ready, else we better get ready for massive upset.

Mayweather has said he wants a fight in the fall. If you had to bet your life savings, who would you bet will be his next opponent if he wins?
    Dan Rafael (12:08 PM)

He says he wants to fight in the fall. It won't be Pacquiao. It could be Canelo but I am doubtful given the timing. So I dont know who he fights. MAYBE Khan if he beats Peterson? Maybe Berto if Berto beats Ortiz?

Alvarez seems to be locked in that September date but I'd be shocked if it were Mayweather. Mayweather goes to jail beginning of June which means he won't get out until July-August which doesn't leave enough time to promote a fight that big. Its clear Mayweather-Alvarez probably happens, I'd guess May or Sept of next year.

I really hope Alvarez fights a quality opponent in Sept., he needs to take that next step. He's beaten plenty of faded fomer contedners and fringe contenders, its time to face an actual top 10 contender at this point.

I'd like either Kirkland or Williams, those are very interesting match ups. A Cotto bout might be interesting if he looks good against Mayweather Saturday. I can't see it being Lara or Trout, those are high risk/low reward scenarios and Alvarez is becoming too big of a money train for that kind of match up even though I'd like to see either one those fights.

I don't want to see GBP match Alvarez up with Latimore-Quintana winner or the Brundrage-Spinks winner next. Alvaez has beaten enough of those level of opponents, he needs to step up especially if he's trying to get a fight with Mayweather.
