    Two things.

    1) He actually does look quite solid.
    2) He's already proven at 154.

Why did Cotto do the staredown for this one but refused with Mayorga and Margarito?

Weigh in's are as much focused around how "not in bad condition," a fighter is in as much as "how in good condition," they are.

Not trying to sound strange there, just saying that it's every bit as important for a fighter to come into a fight looking generally comfortable at the weight, as it is for another coming in looking super ripped.

For what its worth, I think Cotto looks pretty decent at 154. I'm confident that the version of Cotto we see tomorrow will be around prime condition. He's a hard case to judge what with his career up and downs, but I can't see "weight," being an excuse should he fail to deliver tomorrow...

Cotto refused to do a staredown with Mayorga because he said he knew Mayorga wanted to make a scene and he wanted no part of it. And I'm pretty sure Top Rank decided there wouldn't be a staredown between Cotto and Margarito in their rematch. I think I can recall Todd Dubboef saying "no staredown" after the fighters weighed-in.

Cotto geniunely hates Margarito and is bothered by the mere mentioning of his name. Odd thing is that Javier Capetillo is friends with Cotto's pastor.

I was present for the weigh in with Mayorga and it appeared that Cotto walked off as he thought Mayorga's act was pure nonsense. Cotto walked off to show Mayorga that he has no time for his games.

Yeah, Mayorga's a clown, but Cotto should've just slapped the clown down at the staredown if he tried anything.

I don't know if there was genuine bad blood between Cotto and Margo. Cotto said afterward that the main difference in him winning the second fight and losing the first was his conditioning. Off memory, didn't Cotto's wife give Margo a smile and a wink when Margo was brought on stage by Arum after the Mayorga fight. Interesting way to greet someone if she despised him as much as she said.
