****, I've been hit in the body by my younger brothers and cousin and it hurt like a *****. I couldn't imagine taking a body shot by a huge middleweight as a smaller guy
oscar only took the hopkins fight because he couldnt make a rematch with shane and tito. he couldnt make those rematches because they didnt want to sign up and get paid less than a guy they had already beat. oscar taking the hopkins fight instead of thrashing out one of these rematches was the beginning of the end for him, because its when he started becoming part promoter and talking that insincere **** promoters say to sell fights... that, and oscar not unleashing those trademark combos that made him who he was when he was younger, is why he faded into retirement rather than carrying any sort of 'fight' into it
I believe he exagerated the impact of the body shot. And i believe he could have tried to get up.He probably took the easy way out,BHop looked like a HW against him and his chances of outboxing him were vanishing after every round. But i wasnt the one who got hit,so cant say for sure.
:good Saying he oversold it is one thing, but saying he altogether faked the fall & the pain is another. Overselling it just legitimizes the fact that it hurt him badly enough that he didn't want to get up and take any more. Making someone quit with a punch is no less a knockout than making them physically incapable of getting up.
