For me, the main reason why Cotto will lose is his right hand or lack thereof, Miguel is left handed & all the power is in his lead hand.

Orthodox vs Orthodox, against the Philly shell/shoulder roll the right hand is the key punch & the fundamental weakness in its set-up. All the biggest shots Ive seen Floyd take were right hands; Mosely rocked him, Oscar landed a beauty & Castillo had success with his right.

The hook/uppercut to the body behind or around the left elbow & the hook/overhand to the head over the left shoulder are the most effective punches, along with the jab straight down the middle.

Cotto is a lovely boxer to watch & a great fighter but he doesnt have the right tools in his arsenal for the job. He doesnt have the reach or the speed to win this fight. He'll do ok with his jab for a while but Floyd will adjust & take that away from him, after that it will be a clinic imo.

Cotto's best punch is his left hook, but like Oscar & Hatton before him landing that shot against Floyd is extremely difficult. I just cant see his left hook being that effective, he doesnt have the foot speed to change the angle in close or the hand speed to counter with it against/over Floyds right hand. Cotto will need to time it perfectly & I dont think he'll be able to do it often enough to have a major impact.

Perhaps, at the end of a combination he might catch Floyd if he makes a mistake or is a bit sloppy but Floyd must know thats the main weapon he needs to neutralise, along with the jab.

All Cotto has to do is BOX Mayweather not brawl with him , move , use his angles , he should only use his jab as a range finder so he can set up his punches ( ala Rigondeaux ) and throw combos finishing with the same hand he started . If he does that he'll be fine . Peace .

On HBO 24/7 last night, you all saw Diaz tell Cotto to Move, feint, explode!

    He exploded with multiple jabs.

He has read my original post in this thread. :yep

Aside from expecting Mayweather to be stronger, I don't think I was too far off?
