Firstly what a great fight. Prior to this fight I had always believed Cotto was an overrated heartless fighter but last night he gave absolutely everything he could give to try and win that fight but came up short.

In my opinion I have never seen a more focused and determined Cotto inside that ring before (Cotto fans may disagree). He proved that he is more than just a brawler but a good boxer with a solid jab, and is far from finished fighting at the highest level. He will be a champion again. This I have no doubt.

Now let me turn my attention over to mayweather. He said if he had to go to war he wouldn't run, he was willing to die and sure enough floyd mayweather was true to his words.

Isn't it remarkable years ago people would call him a runner, a chicken, always on his bicycle, boring, yet tonight and in recent years he has absolutely shattered that stereotype to pieces.

This floyd mayweather is willing to engage and fight in a more fan friendly style, something Marquez chose to do later in his career. Some people will say he has lost his legs and he can't do what he use to do inside that ring. If we take that to be true then what he has done and has been doing is truly remarkable, he once again has adapted a style that will ensure victory.

People forget that at 35 years of age, Floyd is still competing and dominating guys at the highest level. He has beat everyone who has stepped in the ring with him and yesterday claimed his 2nd JMW title at his fifth weight class.

If Mayweather continues to fight on like all the old great fighters then one day it's inevitable he will eventually come up short and lose. As no one in this sport can be superman forever.

I just hope in the future the likes of him and Pac don't go down the Mosley Tyson and Roy Jones Jr route and continue to fight well out of their prime, as they have given so much to the sport of boxing already.

Once again great fight. Floyd has dealt with every single style there is to deal with, except one. I hope we finally get to see it.

    :hat

Great Post! It was an awesome PPV. Really had to give Shane his props. Dude got steel for a chin and body. Cotto surprised me as well. I actually thought he was going to fold when Floyd started looping that right hand and beating him up on the inside but he showed heart. His trainer did a great job as well.

One thing that I found interesting in the fight was why floyd didn't throw the lead right hand?

Floyd had a lot of success with the looping right hand, which he said he took from studying cotto v mosley tapes. The success with the uppercut came from cotto fight against Judah.

He was earlier in the fight

But he threw some nice combos and varied his punches well

Solid performance really, and it shows how many dimensions Floyd has as a fighter
