K9? If so, he is 40 years old and I was just pointing out that Alvarez is very solid at 21. I dont believe K9 is great but not bad if that is who you meant. Canelo was 5 years old when K9 turned pro.
He was pretty good 3 years ago, ppl. just jumped on the "he's a hypejob" wagon, a wagon itself based on hype instead of reality, Canelo fought a bunch of tough cookies as young as 17-18 years old. He's a very good boxer-puncher with good fundamentals, particularly timing, but short of elite speed and flexibility, I though he did a great job and probably stepped off the gas late because Shane was there to send to the doctors. So far his offense (very high connect %s, excellent combinations, solid short jab, body work, uppercuts, left hook, check hook) outshines his defense (a little slow on reaction and movement when he can't anticipate a punch), we'll see how far he can go. Well, he's one of the best in the division already, but he ain't stopping here. Cotto could be next in the upcoming 12 months or so, probably Floyd after that.
He's good... needs to work on his defence and output, but is in no way "just a hypejob" like so many here say.
He did what he was suppouse to do last night, he beat an old Mosley who never has lost by KO to the punch.Dominated the entire fight.Fought a good fight.I just want to see him now against real contenders.
I would like to see abit more intensity and step up in the gears in future fights but a good base is there for a top fighter.
Yes, he is pretty good. Just a little bit fine tuning and he will be a force. I do think though that he will plateau at his current division. I don't see him jumping up into the higher weight classes and be a multi-division world champion.
