I think it's stupid how Ricky doesn't fight this guy yet he is still allowed to come to the states for big money fights. They have been in the same division for years, Ricky should be taking care of business in his homeland first before anything. As long as they are still part of the top 10 JWWs they should be fighting.

Very very true.

 

Stylistically Hatton is NOT a threat to Witter at all. Witter is too awkard punches to hard and would be too elusive for Hatton to deal with. The likelyhood is that the KO would come even sooner than his bout with PBF. Hattons simply too easy to hit.

 

What is the big deal about Witter?

For **** sake, his best win to date is against Vivian Harris - face it, most of the top light welters could have blasted Harris out in seven rounds.

That is not said to disparage Witter, it was a very good performance having watched it live, I had him winning five of the six completed rounds, with the other being even.

That said, the win does not put him into the marquee bracket, and you have to be honest, he doesn't bring that much to the table. He doesn't market himself well, and to the uninitiated, would come across as a right wanker whilst being interviewed.

All this bleating on about taking the Judah fight at nine days notice - nobody put a gun to his head and said he had to take it. The choice was his. That also applies to Hatton vs Collazo (at seven weeks granted) - no excuses, it was a **** performance because he put on too much timber after the weigh in - I had Hatton winning 114-112 in that one.

He should have concentrated on building his own record, and making sure that HE held the cards, not the other way round. If he held three belts, Hatton would be backed into a corner and would be all but forced to fight him. With only one title, there are many options to choose from without looking silly. Throw into this statements from Juan Diaz and Manny Pacquiao, plus the fact that most US promoters want to sign Hatton (due to him being a big crowd puller on both sides of the pond) and you have the answer.

Also, our American friends get a little carried away when describing someone as a nuthugger. For instance, say you supported Tampa Bay Bucks, yet they lost to whoever, you would still support them the week after, surely? This applies to the Hatton fans, who like him for being entertaining, and a normal, down to earth guy, unlike most boxers.

It is also known as loyalty.

Whether you agree about the entertainment factor, most of his bouts have actually been worth tuning in to IMO (Urango, Vilches excepted), but each to their own in that regard.

All I say is, don't jump on the Witter bandwagon because he beat Harris and Ricky lost to Floyd.

witter vs hatton would be a huge domestic fight, much like benn vs eubank, only hatton cum buckets deny that.

 

i'm a fan of both but think Witter would win by KO, a combination of having the right style and Hatton being past his best (although this is yet to be proven)

 

if you had been here long enough you would know some of us have been saying witter beats hatton for a very long time.
