How Big is the Filipino Boxing Fanbase?

I have to side with Philipinos on this one issue.


They have always been huge fans of the sport. Don't let some of the *******s around here fool you. There have always been really good Philipinos and Asians involved in the sport.

 

Plus his fan base has gone well beyond he Philipines and into all of Asia.
My girl is Vietnamese and my co-worker is Chinese-American. They both know Pacquiao. Her brothers and cousins know Pacquiao. I see his advertisements in the Little Saigon/Koreatown areas here and overseas, he is even bigger.

When pacquiao retires 90% of these ****ers won't be following boxing anymore.

 

Born in the Philippines. Became a Naturalized American citizen, but still maintains dual citizenship.

Look at the flag he carries during fights.

Even Boxrec recognizes him as Flipino.

Funny how a small non-boxing fan nation would bring and host what turned out to be one of the most classic fights ever in "The Thrilla in Manila".

It blows the mind away why a poor small non-boxing fan nation would spend millions to host a sport they don't care about and before the birth of Manny Pacquiao.

It's boggles the mind! I need an aspirin now.

Philippines always had a rich if not deep boxing history....dating back to Pancho Villa. What they lack in quantity, they balance out with quality.

 

All I know is it's ****ing loud. And it only cares about a handful of fighters.

boxing has always been big in the Philippines. Obviously the fan base has grown immensely with Pac, but even before then it was pretty big. We have a rich history in boxing and as another poster has mentioned, it's the 2nd most popular sport in the country.

One of the main reasons why it seems like there aren't many Filipino boxers is because most of them just fight in Asian countries (mainly Philippines, Japan, Thailand). It's EXTREMELY hard to break into the US fight scene.

 

They aren't boxing fans, well the Majority... they are just PAC FANS.
