What do you think about Maxie Rosenbloom? Does not seem to get mentioned here on this board, but many boxing historians thought very highly of him. How good was he? Where do you guys rank him? How does he match up head to head versus the other LHWs? Why did he not get a shot at Louis or Conn?

Why didn't he fight Tommy Loughran?

Yikes, just looked at his record more carefully. Only 19 KOs in 298 fights, certainly not a slugger! But only knocked out twice in an active career spanning 16 years. That impressive!

Top 10 at 175 in my opinion, one of the great defensive fighters in boxing history

I read somewhere that his second KO at the hands of Jimmy Adamick was a "favor" to Adamick's manager to help build Adamick up as some kind of deadly slugger.

Does anyone know the name of the technicolor movie in which Maxie had an extensive sparring session? I haven't been able to isolate the name on IMDB. Would appreciate it if anyone knows.

I think it was "The Kid Comes Back" in about '38 or '39

How would he have done against an Archie Moore, or a Philadelphia Jack O'Brien?
