Who is Greater: Hearns or Mayweather?

Well look at Moneys early bouts this is where everyone get it twisted he ran the tucking gauntlet but gets no love look it up he has been fighting for 16 years.And I became a fan after the Gatti fight he is the truth just enjoy him.

 

Hearns beating Benitez, destroying Cuevas, moving up to beat an undefeated Hill, out-pointing (to fans) a past-it but still competent Leonard, and obliterating a past-prime Duran (not just beating, destroying like never before or since) allows Hearns to take the edge IMO. Both faced a good number of past-prime greats, but Hearns faced the higher caliber.

 

No you said he was old when he fought Hearns thats what I was referring too .

 

Regardless of the first SRL fight, which Hearns was winning after 12, he has 1st round KOs at light heavyweight. He's a one of a kind head to head beast and only the very very best at 147 and 154 could ever hope to defeat him.

Floyd's skill set is MUCH more complete; Hearns is the greater by a slight bit because of his accomplishments.

 

At this point Hearns, don't forget that he KTFO Pipino Cuevas in 1980 and was undefeated, who was a great puncher at WW to win his first title, the WBA version, beat famous trainer, then back boxer Randy Shelds, stepped up after losing to SRL in that great fight in 1981 in the Place where Legends are made , LV, NV, and beat Benitez ( by Majority decision against El radar and the WBC LMW or SWW Title) and beat Duran in 1984 at LMW defending that title ny devastating kayo, Duran who had just lost to SRL at WW, and lost against Benitez at LMW but kayoed the guy who KTFO in 2 EL Radar davey Moore, lost the MW title fight to Hagler but he won a LHWT Title in terrific fashion ( WBC version against Dennies Andries), and that first fight to Barkley and after not having won but had that draw with SRL at SMW, still came down from 175 to 160 and won a vacant WBC Title fight with another devastating performance against Juan Roldan in 1987 sill, lost his first title fight at MW to Iran Barkley, won a vacant WBO SMW title against james Kinchen in 88 but had that frustrating draw after two knockdowns scored against SRL in 1989 for the WBC and WBO SMW Titles, still defended the WBO SMW title against Michael Olajide trained by Angelo Dundee in 1990 and incredibly beat the previously undefeated Virgil "Quicksilver" Hill for the WBA LHWT Title, unfortunatelu was knocked down again and had a broken nose in losing that title in the LHWT Division to Iran Barkley by SD in 1992 and Barkley who was trained by Eddie Mustafa Muhammad and promoted by Bob Arum, still carried on and won minor CW Titles and stll fought two fights after losing to Uriah Grant. Now he is in bad finantial situation to take care of his family.
On the other hand, Floyd won and defended 10 times the SFW Title ( Chicanito Rodrigues RIP in 1998, great win against Angel Manfredy TKO2, Carlos Rios, Juuko, Carlos Gerena, a decision win against Gregorio Vargas, a great tough win in a battle against Augustus TKO9) and a big win against Corrales (RIP) when both were undefeated (TKO10) and even RJJ was there, carlos Hernandez and the known Jesus Chavez ( big win in the ninth) had four fights at LW ( castillo twice for the WBC LW title), Sosa and NDou ( great win in the 7th), three fights at LWW gainst Chop chop Corley, Bruseles and the big win against Arturo Gatti ( RIP) and the WBC LWW Title with a TKO in 6, and has remained fighting at WW - Michell, Zab, won the WBC WW Title outclassing Baldomir who had won it against Zab and defended it against Gatti, big wins against Hatton, Mosley and JMM, and two excellent wins at LMW against Hoya ( WBC SWW Title) and Cotto (WBA LMW Title).
Hearns won those many titles ( 5 or 6 divisions) fighting from 1977 to 2006 no matter the 5 losses, he had 61 wins and 48 big wins by kayo, only that draw against another ATG and Hall of Famer SRL, one of the best of all times. Floyd is undefeated alright at 46-0-0 with 26 Kayos and having started his pro career in 1996 and still retiring, coming back and mainly being undefeated and a 5 Division World Titlist and according to many P4P number 1.
I say "Money" Mayweather, Pretty Boy Floyd is great but has still something to do and concerning guys like also from Michigan, in this case detroit, Manny Steward knows well, Tommy " The Motor City Cobra/The Hitman" Hearns. Who thought Benitez beat Hearns?

 

Hearns fought anyone, in fact, of him, Leanard, Duran and Hagler, he was best when it came to taking on anyone, guy did not give a ****. He fought best of his era, as long as Mayweather and Pac don't fight, it hurts both. Hearns was a freak of nature, I wish him and Hagler had rematched. He was a few jabs away from a win till Hagler came up big and hurt him.

 

I'd rate Hearns over everybody whose primes took place in the last 25 years aside from Pernell Whitaker and Roy Jones.

When Hearns beat Duran, Duran was 3 years younger than Floyd is now. Duran was 32 and Floyd is now 35. Duran was a champ at 154 also. I suppose so is Floyd. Duran's age is mentioned only as an excuse for the loss, but the fact is he gets credit for beating Moore and winning his WBA 154 pound title and 5 years after the Hearns loss he beat Barkley for his WBC 160 pound title. Benitez fought his best fights at 154 I thought.
