I'm wondering if they could go back and conduct CIR testing on all the samples they have - should make for interesting results I believe - although the degradation of urine must be a couple of months at most (if stored correctly) I would assume.:think
I've tested urine samples (not fordoping issues) that had been frozen for several months and had no problem... however, it would probably cost way too much to store all urine samples under -80 degrees...
Per regulations, they're required to keep it for 6 months following any action (initial testing, requests for re-review, etc.) after which time the sample is marked for "disposal." At that time, the commission is free to place the sample on e-bay for sale to memorabilia collectors. That's how I put together my collection of ATG ****. I have a 1946 Sandy Sadler that has held up nicely. 46 was a good year.
It would be crazy to drink it. The book value of a 1974 Mumammad Ali post-Zaire rosé makes a Honus Wagner rookie card look like an '89 Mookie Wilson.
