I'm seeing alot of comments and threads talking about a possible match with Roy and Taylor. If this fight happens will Roy get good recognition for the win or would it be worthless to him. If you ask me I think it would be a pretty big win against a guy this a skilled boxer and should be very hungry and in his prime. I know JT doens't have alot of fans but he is a B+/ A level fighter. I think this is a rather dangerous fight for Roy to take which should add to the win. Afterall JT did just give Pavlik, the ruler of the division a very tough fight which could've went Taylors way, (I had Pavlik but could see the argument). I would love to see Roy win this fight and then take on Hops/Cal next, hopefully Hops because I think Hops is a more winnable fight than Cal at this point due to styles. Your thoughts

Taylor's career will always be shrouded in doubt.

He could easily have 4 or 5 defeats on his record.

A win over him doesn't do much for Jones really, not a win to make people think he's greater.

I think it will help a lot. JT is no bum. And he will have erased some of his nightmarish KOs and sort of redeem himself. But i don't see him fighting JT as i think JT has a good shot of beating RJJ.

I see your point, but that same point could be made for alot of boxers today, the BHop fights where very close and could have gone either way, Winky could have gone either way, Pavlik could have gone either way. So all in all he could easily have just 1 defeat on his record (KO Pavlik) which could have also been stopped in the 2nd round theoritically (sp?) I think a win over Taylor would do more than a win over Tarver, woods, or possibly Johnson, due to the fact that Taylor's in his prime, I think this would be a good win for Jones at this point, everyone has there own opinion:good

this is why i think it would do Jones very well resume wise, I'm not sure who would be favored in this fight but its definitly a high risk fight

    EXACTLY!

If the public perception before a fight is that RJJ has a good chance of losing, that's the type of fight that can enhance your legacy. Someone started a poll about this fight and it was dead even. So it's no gimme like a Tito fight.

Really, if RJJ could beat JT right now, i would be really impressed.

I think the fact that Taylor had 4 dubious decisions in 5 fights and then followed that up by getting badly KO'd will always be against him. It's alright getting a few dubious decisions in a career, but 4 practically on the trot sticks in peoples mind and the Pavlik fight was seen as him finally getting found out.

Personally I think he won both Hopkins fights and the Spinks fight. Wright fights can be hard to score.

I'd make RJJ the underdog in a fight with Taylor really, but still not sure if it would move him up in an ATG list if he won it.

More i'm thinking about it the more I want it to happen, i think Roy get alot of undeserved slack about his losses, and this would definilty fix alot of that

    to me anyway!!

Beating Taylor at this point would be huge.

taylor would beat the washed up roy. however, if he could pull off a win it would be huge for his later career. he will never be the prime roy jones again, but some big wins at the end against top opponents would show some longevity.

He's shot to bits, and Taylor fought pretty well in his last fight so it would look good

That said, I don't think he is capable of doing anything to massively boost his already very good resume at this point

He would have to fight B level fighters, and even then he would have to choose wisely. When you have legends on your resume, it doesn't really make any odds

I would bet alot on taylor to win that fight. I just dont think jones's last 2 wins should not erase the ko'd bad against 2 fighters bhop handled easily. Plus taylor has alot more in the tank then an 39 year old jones.

What does Hopkins have to do with a Jones vs. Taylor fight?

Anyone think that this fight is a REAL possibility or that it's just rumors flying around? I would love to see this one.

Jones appears to be the more shot of the two so it would be a pretty nice win. If I were Roy, I would try to get a fight with Joppy if Joppy pulls the unthinkable and upsets Bute.
