Romero is circling to the right and putting in sweeping body shots. Viloria is countering with quick straight flurries up top, but mostly hanging back. Slower pace now. Romero puts in a 1-2 from outside, but gets tagged back with a left hook. Right hand by Viloria from outside. Romero stretches out his jab to chase Viloria back, but the champion slips it with a jerk of his head. Left hook doubled softly to the hip and chest by Romero. Viloria is defending well against the Romero jab but not really throwing anything back.

The commentators think it was a Romero round. :think I tend to agree. Just too little work from Viloria.

It would be a shame to see him make the same mistake DLH made against Trinidad here, and pay the same price..

 

Round 9

Viloria throws high lead rights from outside. Romero gives him plenty of room, and stretches out long jabs at him. Hook to the belly by Romero, and Viloria counters with a stiff jab. BIG LEFT UPPER HOOK BY VILORIA! ROMERO IS HURT AND SENT CRASHING INTO THE ROPES!! HIS CORNER THROWS THE TOWEL AS VILORIA OPENS UP AGGRESSIVELY!

TKO!!

 

Good stoppage. Romero's brains are scrambled, IMO.
