Yeah but to say Ward is not boring is not accurate.

He's a safety first fighter. He never goes for the kill! Even against mismatched opponents like Green or Miranda. He's Hopkins 2.0. He's a slapper and a clincher. This is how Ward fights: 1-2 punches then clinch, 1-2 punches then clinch etc...In Oakland he's allowed to do anything.

Ward and dawson are bore snore fighters for the casual fan.
Both are great technicians but neither will sell out any major arena apart from maybe Germany where the Germans appreciate wards style of fighting:bbb

im tired of hearing people say "oh, real boxing fans would rather watch this. . ." no, no real boxing fan wants to see a guy hold 8 times a round, and throw 30 punches. . . Yes, you can appreciate the intelligence, and savvy, but NOBODY would rather watch Andre Ward box his way to a cautious, one-sided decision, than two guys go toe to toe.

IMO, real boxing purists should find most pleasure in a guy like Marquez, or Mayweather (I don't consider Floyd boring at all). . Watching a fight like Marquez/Diaz I. . .

But even for crude boxers, you're lying to yourself if you'd rather watch Ward vs. Green than Ward vs. Gatti. . .

I thought Ward's fight against Kessler was technical brilliance, AND entertaining to watch. . His fights against Bika, green, and Froch? not so much. . . I mean, he practically hugged Froch to death from rounds 10-12. . .

If you say you'd rather watch Ward/Dawson, than Kessler/Cloud, then you're lying to yourself.

I actually don't mind him. He's skillful, varied in the things he does, and incedibly adaptive in the ring.

What I mind are hypocritical fans who boo fighters like Molina whilst praising Ward. Their styles (skill level aside) are almost identical.

Froch was one of his better performances. His fight against Green cured insomnia.

    This. . .

I appreciate guys like Ward, and Molina. . . And sometimes they can be very entertaining. . I consider myself about as hardcore of a boxing fan, fundamentalist, and purist as there can be, but I'm not gonna pretend like I enjoy watching a guy hold like Ward sometimes does, and that I'm not bored with him sometimes. . .

His fight against Kessler. . THAT was very entertaining. . Loved the way he kept the punch output up, stood in the pocket and picked shots off. . Moved around, but used the jab a lot. . Transitioned from inside, to outside, etc. .

Whether or not he intentionally used his head, I don't know. . I give him benefit of doubt, though.

    Boring is a relative term.

To me, Ward and Dawson are boring.

You might define them as explosive, or wathever term you want to use. You are entitled to your own opinion.

However, My personal term for Ward is "boring".

You can be technical and not boring.

Andre Ward is a brilliant technician fighter , no doubt . After Floyd , Ward is no 2 in terms of wise skill into the ring.
And yes , indeed due his highly technical style of fighting ,

Ward spends most of his fights clinching and pushing his opponents back. Holding and hitting too. He is a excellent boxer, but he isn't the most entertaining in my opinion.

He is boring in the sense that he did not arrange fights with Andre Dirrell or Lucian Bute, which would have been very exciting match ups. But if he gets it on with Dawson that leaves little to ***** about; Dawson is as good as the two he dodged.

Stylewise he is not as entertaining as most other top boxers. You can appreciate him for what he does good (which is a LOT!) but he lacks the charisma of Floyd Mayweather, Pac or even Wlad who is assumed boring but attracts big crowds. Frankly, I believe Ward will be bitter about his career. He sounds bitter already.
