What did you think of The Fight Game with Jim Lampley?

Personally, i thought it was a waste of time. Just Lampley and Kellerman talking about recent news, and a few low budget satellite interviews. It was boring. How is this going to attract new fans?

I thought it was going to be a kind of Sports Center format but just boxing. What about sending people into training camps, boxing commisions, and magazine offices to get inside info on the sport? Or show highlights of the best recent fights? KO of the month? Prospects to look out for? One man in front of a camera is boring. Why not do a round table of 3 or 4 people and talk about boxing like they do casually?

Only good thing was the Gatti-Ward highlights. The Gatti List had potential, but it would have been nice to see a top 5 and a 20 second highlight of each fighter to back up the ranking. Also: Mayweather equal with Arce and Salido for fight action? Okay.

I missed it. . . Was so tired from training earlier, I fell out around 5-6 and slept till like 1:30 AM. . .

WIll catch it, though. . That does sound boring. I was hoping for interviews, and visits to various training camps for upcoming fights. . But I guess they have an agenda to NOT support, and help promote fights taking place on other networks.

 

I get this from HBO's point. But not covering other networks would take away credibility from this show and ratings might fall because of it. As long as it doesn't compete with anything HBO has on, it should be fine.

I liked it. Nothing Earth-shattering for hardcore fight fans, but it was interesting to see Schafer and Arum on one right after the other with direct questions from Lampley.

Very Golpe-A-Golpeish when Lampley was all "use me as a prop!" with Jones.

I think they'll refine it and add more of the little details you were looking for as it goes on. It felt really rushed and introductory. They'll get the groove eventually I think.

maybe i got this wrong but the commercials made it seem like a legendary nights show where lampley wqould talk about past HBO fights and fights he has called and looked back on boxing over the decades

is this the idea or was i way off

Everything that talks about boxing and has the fighters participating is good for boxing.
