Vitali says he's going to hang it up soon

He was. Haye had an offer, and Haye went with Chisora instead.
To fight in July and then Sept again....first off, there's no guarantee Haye
even wins in July, and if he does, that he doesn't get injured, etc...
By taking the Chisora fight, Haye was effectively turning down the fight in Sept with Vitali.

 

He might be using the Chisora fight to rebuild his publicity, so that he can sell another PPV with Vitali. After the Wlad fight, his credibility in England was shot. Now, if he beats Chisora impressively, people will be supporting David Haye again.

 

Why would he retire? There is noone to challenge him nor his bro in the next decade or two.

Silly, keep beating them up-comers, brits or what not up, break all the existing records, you know the ones he didn't break yet (don't know if there any left) and then retire at the ripe age of 55 or so.

What a good way to set a new level to achieve for any sportsmen, boxing or not...

 

If Vitali retires,it isn't because there are no opponents out there. That is just not true. The truth is that there are too many out there and a few of them can beat him. It dont matter anyhow. He had a good career and he wants to help with all the politics and that stuff. Good luck.

 

He should retire. He's screwing over his brother's legacy every day he keeps that belt. Wlad could be only the second fighter ever to unify all four major belts since there were four major belts to be unified. That would be awesome. If there isn't any big fights then stop lingering around for God's sake. Your brother deserves this and you're not getting anything significant out of it anyway.

 

Haye adds nothing to his legacy and he's 41. Go ahead and retire while your still on top before you get old overnight.

Maybe some of you guys didn't hear about it, but Haye actually fought Wlad last year. Yeah, it sucked; he was a total *****. Theres no reason to expect the Vitali fight to be any different. Well except for the fact that Haye only had a punchers chance vs Wlad. He doesn't even have that vs Vitali.

 

Okay, say he doesn't have a moral obligation or whatever to be the one to step aside and let Wlad try to get the WBC title. Say neither of us holds Vitali's reign against Wlad. You and I both know that's one of the things other fans hold against Wlad-that he can't face the second best heavyweight in the division because it's his brother. So in their eyes Wlad hasn't faced the second best heavyweight in the division during his six-year reign and even though he's obviously better he can't really prove it by beating the next best man like Marciano and Louis and all these other greats did when they were champ. That's the way it goes down in history whether we agree with holding it against him or not. Vitali and Wlad got what they wanted now and have enjoyed it a little while so why not leave? If he doesn't leave soon I say it's just vanity on Vitali's part. He needs to understand right or wrong that the longer he goes on the more he's taking away from Wladimir. IMO.

After he fights the winner of Haye/Chisora i think he should hang up the gloves. He really doesn't have any significant fights to look forward to after that.

he has beaten every fighter put in front of him..unless you count that flukie eye stopage..or the other flukie loss with the shoulder.,fights he was clearly winning and where stoped due to injury..kinda taints the wins for lucky lewis and flukie byrd.,

 

Even if he demolished Haye in two rounds, his TKO-6 loss to Lewis would still be better on his resume.
