Who were the most gifted fighters you've seen, famous or obscure? For me, Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquaio, Nonito Donaire, Gary Russell Jr, Naseem Hamed, Mike Tyson, Hector Camacho Sr are the more famous ones I've seen. The more obscure ones was probably Francisco Bojado. Blazing handspeed and good boxing instincts but didn't have the drive to match.
james toney. everyone says roy jones is more gifted. as an athelete way more gifted than toney but as a fighter i think toney is more gifted. this man had a very brief amateur career and pretty much learned on the job but yet he's throwback and does a lot of the little things right like he's been boxing since he was five and had that amatuer pedigree that people like jones, mosley, dela hoya, ward, and other sucessful fighters had. the fact is he only started boxing when his football career got cut short when he got into a fight with deon sanders.
he really is a natural. but he's just an embarassment now. can't even understand a word he says. "i'm the gweates in da whirl. got milk baby!"
Sugar Ray Leonard Mike Tyson Evander Holyfield Michael Watson (very good boxer, it's unfortunate what happened to him) Shane Mosley (amazing boxer/puncher when he was younger) Joe Calzaghe Roy Jones Jr. Lennox Lewis Chad Dawson (yes I have to be bias)
no doubt. sometimes i sit back and watch his old interviews from when he was younger and listen to how clearly he could speak. then i see this current version and start to feel bad for him. his brain is ****ed. i cant believe hes still alowed to box.
Dawson (and Taylor) were both amazing athletes with out a doubt shame neither of them really became great fighters.
