Just wondering, is it going to go on forever? can just imagine UFC 1036 or something stupid. I think a better option would be to just name them after the main event, no?

Yeah, for ages, it's pretty much tradition at this point.

Better question...How do you propose they call them ? I don't think they really have a choice.. ! they will have to use number at one point or another... !

It's not like they are going to use a word begining with a diffrent letter each time.

    UFC Turnip
    UFC Grape

They'll keep as long the promotional name is the selling point.

I expect them to go for something simple than that ****.

Maybe UFC1K for those exceeding hundreds.

If you remember Zuffa actually tried phasing them out awhile back but everyone ignored them. Given how UFC 100 was they'd never get rid of them now

Dana said they tried but all the fans wanted them back. I love them and think it helps hugely in the marketing. Each one comes across like an event, easy to track back chronologically and easy to talk about with people as event names are often forgotten unless they were huge i.e. Rumble in the Jungle.

Not to mention UFCs are dropping their numbers with the whole Fox deal and other cards (Fuel, FX, Fox) so they'll happen less, but will probably average around 10-15 a year. It'll probably take at least 3 years to a possible 5 to get to 200.
