Ok basically I am short of money and I pay 45£ each month for boxing and 16£ for a gym. I am starting to train as an amteur boxer so my boxing lessons are very important. But I am not sure about the gym. I mean I know that boxers do some strength training but they mostly do body weight exercise such as pushups, squat, pullups and abs training. And I do have some weights, door gym, training mat, abs bench and even a free standing punch bag at home. Are these enough for strenght training? So do you think I should cancel my gym membership? The only advantage of the gym is that I can do some certain exercises such as Benchpress, Deadlift, ..but I guess they are not very important for boxing purposes?

Dear every work out have its unique features and benefits. You don't need to cancel and left gym membership. Work out is compulsory boxing players, it build body stamina, strong muscles and moreover that it reduce extra fat. Also with continue boxing training and use healthy foods. By this you can boost body power.

Strength training should complement your boxing. If you can't afford it or fit it in cancel your gym if you can then start a regime to focus on aspects you want to improve. ie. Power, strength

that being said, just stick to boxing and body weight strength training for a while until you're body gets used to boxing. You'll really kill yourself just jumping into boxing and then lifting weights, give your body time to adjust thats all. Boxing gives a whole different stress on you're body.

You don't need weightlifting. You'll be plenty strong with a system of progressive calisthenics and pylometrics.

    What do you mean?

  8. IMO Stick to the technique and conditioning of boxing. By far the most important thing. Once someone is past the novice stage in competing then they might choose to lift more than standard body weight exercises.

All i'm saying, If you're short of cash than weights aren't a priority.
