I have a exhibition match coming up this Friday. And I usually train everyday except Sunday. But if I have fight coming up should I be training everyday?

First, you shouldn't be training everyday. The whole idea of training is to tax the body more than what its used to, then let it rest and recover to become stronger than the previous day. But if you don't rest it, it'll never become stronger.

Generally, the younger you are, the lest rest you need to recover. Older guys need more rest, but must train more intensely.

And if you got a fight coming up, you want full rest of at least 2 days so your body will be at its strongest. Its not the training that makes you stronger. Its the rebuilding while resting. But, you need to do the training to provoke the body into making it rebuild itself stronger.

I don't agree with the previous poster here. If your body is used to training every day, then you should train every day before a fight. I usually get one rest day 5 to 7 days before the fight. Other than that I train every day. If you have two rest days before the fight your body will freeze when you get in the ring. It's all about what you're used to.

So my advice is to continue training every day, but lighter and ligther training as the fight nears. Get your speed up, work for short time periods and have long breaks in between.

How long have you been training? Are you in open or novice class? What kind of condition are you in currently? What is your age? Do you have a coach/trainer?

I'm not a amateur fighter yet, but I've been improving more lately so coach set up a exhibition match with a other guy from other gym. And as for me I don't train everyday I usually train 6 days a week and rest 1 day.

But there are times when I won't be able to train because I'm still a high school student and SAT studying and maintaining good gpa.

EDIT: I've been training for 5 months by the way. And I go to boxing gym usually 3~4 times a week and train about 3 hours there.
