see boxed ears...now you are putting words in my mouth...
i dont throw cliche terms out there often because they are so overused on here with most people not knowing what it really means. My definition of a blown up cruiser... - one that can still make the cruiserweight division and only went north because of money.... holyfield was never a blown up cruiserweight , haye was never one ether, gomez wasnt, i am on the fence about adamek...tossed around like a rag doll when he fought for the title against a heavyweight champ, would not indicate a true solid heavyweight...
also a blown up cruiser often looks fat and flabby with little power at their new weight..enter Jonathan Banks... and in 3 years as a heavyweight his biggest win is against travis walker who is ranked #37 in the world.
with all that said..i would pick him to beat mitchell at this point....

so yeah..blown up... i'll stick with that description :D

Anyone know hen and where this will take place?

Is this gonna be on a Klitschko undercard like mostly all of Banks fights or will this take place in DC?

My personal opinion is Chauncy is underrated on ESB. He may not look like a bodybuilder or have a high KO %. But he is extremely slick and knows how use subtle movements to make his opponent miss. He is levels above Mitchell when it comes to boxing ability and I feel he would have dominated him over the course of the match. Watch this video where he came and fought Solis on 10 day notice and without training (his body really reflects that). He's in good shape now and motivated. I feel if he can make a boxing technician like Solis miss that much, a rough boxer like Mitchell would be hard pressed to land anything meaningful.

 Wlad has faced better and much harder punchers compared to Witherspoon. And he hasn't been rocked hard since the first Samuel Peter fight. So how can you say his chin is weaker than Mitchell. Mitchell is a knockout waiting to happen.

And to the morons here who thinks Banks can't crack. Take a look at this.

Way better than Welliver. Banks might give him some trouble for a few rounds. I love watching Mitchell but he ain't the future of even the American heavyweights, he loses to Arreola/Chambers for sure and would call a fight between him and Jennings 50/50.

This is a good fight and a clear step up for Mitchell, I really don't see why anyone would have a problem with this. I reckon if Mitchell doesn't get the KO within 6 rounds he could be in big trouble in this fight. There really isn't much in this.

First off, my good man, I did not put words into your mouth. "he's a blown up cruiser" was verbatim what you said. If you figure we're seeing the definition of that term as different, that's fine, cool, but putting words in your mouth is not what I did. That's not up for debate. That's just verifiably incorrect. :yep

Okay, now, the picture. I look at the majority of heavyweights and I see they can almost all stand to lose at least ten pounds, even the smaller heavies that fought there their whole career and Banks isn't any different. So, that picture isn't too dramatic for me.

Your definition of a blown-up cruiser: Holyfield absolutely could have still made cruiserweight, so I guess he actually does fit your definition. He moved up for a big money fight with Mike Tyson. Because that kind of fight simply didn't exist at cruiserweight. Do you think that a 202-pound man (Holy's debut heavyweight match against Tillis) couldn't make 190? What do you think he was rehydrating to in the fights before? I can't recall hearing of him ever having trouble with the weight, though my memory might be a little cloudy. Consider that he was only a 205-pound man fighting a 235-pound Bowe years later. I think he does fit your given definition.

Haye and Gomez are both big cruisers but don't tell me that when David Haye, in perfect condition at 210 pounds at the weigh-in, where he was allowed to weigh whatever he wanted, in the biggest fight of his career, he couldn't be making cruiserweight, which had moved its limit up by then. Ten pounds would be pretty standard dehydrating, for significantly smaller weight classes. So, yeah, he moved up without having too, for a big money fight with a Klitschko. He says he had lots of trouble making the weight. I think by now it's safe to be suspicious of a lot of things he says. I don't think you'd disagree with that, of all people.

Adamek? Come on, now. Look at his frame next to all of his heavyweight opponents. He makes for a good heavyweight, I think, so I don't care, but no need to be on a fence about it. He's driven back by almost everyone, despite some pretty large class differences, even while he's beating asses. Because he's not got a modern heavyweight frame, but that of a cruiserweight. His camp has been pretty vocal about Adamek's being served by "bulking up".

Regardless, my points didn't involve that there aren't "cruiserweights" all over the heavyweight landscape, but that making the distinction in any derisive manner is virtually meaningless when a guy A. is staying at heavyweight and still a reasonable top 25 shout and B. Since the division's inception, most smaller heavyweights are capable of making cruiserweight but wouldn't bother, so why point out the ones who gave it a go before coming up where a significant portion of the lifers are the same damn size anyway? And you can call them blown up, even if many of their actual weigh-in weights aren't really changing. But, seeing a lot of time where there was not CW distinction, it's all pretty silly to me, brother. :conf
