Damn this subscriber websites! Here's the Article:

Boxing manager and promoter Frank ****** is planning to roll out his recently established subscription channel Box Nation internationally as it approaches 100,000 UK subscribers.

****** is in talks with promoters in the Ukraine, Russia and the Far East to licence the Box Nation brand and showcase local fighters. The move would enable ****** to promote bigger fights, which can be aired internationally.

It follows the launch of the £10 per month channel in the UK via Sky, Virgin Media and online in December.

“If you’re a rights holder then there comes a time when you question why you are working with a broadcaster, when you are able to use your own judgement and keep your destiny in your own hands,” he said.

Despite his assertion, talks are underway with Sky to secure distribution for the channel in pubs and clubs, which requires a separate carriage agreement.

****** is also hunting for a terrestrial broadcaster to show a highlights package. Channel 5 is considered to be a potential partner after it recently secured strong ratings for fights featuring Tyson Fury and Chris Eubank Jr.

****** expects the David Haye versus Dereck Chisora fight, which will air on Box Nation on 14 July, to provide a shot-in-the-arm to the channel.

“It will be the first time we have had a big British showdown that transcends boxing. It’s the biggest fight of the year so far because of the controversy involved,” said ******.

There are no plans to mix Box Nation’s subscription model with pay-per-view access but ****** pointed to the 1.5 million US homes which paid $79 to watch this month’s bout between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto, as proof of the willingness of boxing fans to pay.

He added that just 200 subscribers had left the service in the five months it has been on-air.

****** said he saw an opportunity to launch a dedicated boxing channel following Sky Sports’ anticipated reduction of its domestic coverage from 50 to 25 fights a year.

“It says it is looking for quality not quantity, but I am a firm believer in the strength of the product,” he said.

The coverage for the channel, including daily behind-the-scenes updates in the build-up to Haye vs Chisora, is produced by Input Media with South East Asian broadcast provider Zoom Communications.

****** said he may be on the lookout for more original programming in the future.

65 million population in the UK, do you really think 1 in 650 people having boxnation is unrealistic?

    Now, this is critical:

Is it going to be kept as the cost of a pint of beer a week in your specific country?

Because if so, I may have to move to Prague (where beer is cheaper than water) and get hooked up with some cheap weekly HDTV boxing. :p
