Hatton: Scottish fans should support local fighters as much as they do me!

Oh no man of course not.

I said that at the very outset of this thread. There are some big Hatton fans on this forum that know their stuff and are true boxing fans.

I like to take on board everyones opinions, which is why I thought the more cynical view that Hatton was doing this as yet another PR exercise was worthy of consideration, especially in light of the somewhat negative response to his not fighting Witter by true boxing fans.

But, I think it is fair to conclude upon analysing and hearing the perspectives of you guys as well as the article itself that in this instance he is trying to do some good for Scottish boxing. I might take issue with some of the characters, the football fans and thugs as Maka pointed out, that Hatton attracts to his fights and prefer that we keep local fights in Scotland as a bit of a clique sort of thing where only true boxing fans go.

But in regards to boosting the sport, that is more media coverage and money for the fighters through more punters, theres no doubt comments like this from the popular Hatton can only help in this respect.

I think this situation with the Hatton comments on here is an example of people having made up their minds up about someone beforehand and then just trying shoehorn in any sort of 'evidence', no matter how irrelevant, to support their opinion.

It seems to me that anything that Hatton says is interpreted as an excuse to not fighting Witter.

How anyone can say that Hatton commenting on the state of boxing in Scotland is trying to deflect attention from Witter is just pure hating for the sake of it.

His comments are perfectly reasonable.

I want to see him fight Witter as much as anyone and personally i dont think Witter lasts past 6 rounds but the fight has to be made.

It pisses me off that everything he says these days is picked up as an excuse for not fighting Witter.

FFS he was in Scotland to help promote a show so obviously he is going to have an opinion and is within his right to air it, at the end of the day what he has said is spot on.

No matter what he says or does these days the haters will pick holes in it in order to say "Look, he's scared" or something to that effect.

me too mate..........i wanna see the fight as well, no boxing fan worth their salt would want to miss the 2 best light welters in the country gettin it on.

i used to read the posts and think "ah **** that am not gettin involved it just drags on and on" and this post proves it.


what ****in harm has the guy done in promoting, advertising, supporting the sport that he just happens to be good at and the sport that he's done all his life?

I tend not to reply to your hate filled posts about Hatton but seeming as this one made me lol and so did the Billy Graham post I have to mention the irony of complaining about Hattons interviews when you have the undisputed champion of gobshites as your avatar.

just to let every1 know ricky hatton came up to glasgow yesterday as a favour to willie and did not do so for money. obviously he got a bit of publicity himself to mention what hes got planned for the future etc...
