A few places I know: The Castle (already mentioned) Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem - built into the castle walls. Supposedly the oldest pub in Great Britain. Has a beer garden but gets busy with tourists. Across the bridge from the railway station on the left is a riverside development with a couple of big pubs and very big outside garden overlooking the river. There is a pub there with a bridge inside which canal boats can go under. There is a pub in a big old deconsecrated church, The Pitcher and Piano. Very, very impressive place. There is a kind of tacky, kind of fun horror themed pub called the Pit and the Pendulum. Flaming torch outside and downstairs you can sit in vaulted cellar areas and go for a **** by walking through a bookcase. Attracts freaky goth girls. When I was last in Nottingham for the Froch Dirrel open training session I went to a pub opposite the Crowne Plaza, which is open late. Nothing special but it might be an option.
i would have LOVED to have gone....i think it'll be an amazing night for those of you going...enjoy it brothers
Sorry Gaz, the only relatively quite place I can think of that might be open at that time is the irish pub, Keogh's.
The Approach is an awesome pub for football as it has a multi satellite dish setup- alas the football season is over. I like The Castle, Brass Monkeys and The Canal House (which has a canal running through the middle of it and serves every beer/bitter imaginable). Cookie Club is the best option for a night club after- central and decent music if you are into indie/funk/house.
Having lived in Nottingham for 12 years, i can't disagree with any of the above. Ocean is open on Saturdays (i was there a few weeks ago on a Saturday and it was awesome) and you can get in without a student card if you tag along with someone who has a student card.
damn, I've gotta get my ass there. I might just use my brothers student card. I do have one but it says 2005/2006 on it and is from an out of town uni. I doubt they'll accept it. My brother finishes uni this year too though, so after that I'll have to think of another way to get in. Any ideas?:hey
Really wish I was going to this, especially considering the good weather and England match. This could be one of those rare occasions where the underdog is at home and pulls it off. If he does it'll be immense! Getting up at 6:30am Sunday morning to watch this!
We are driving up from london sat morning, booked a table at hooters for lunch, then walking to the arena, guna be a great day!!!
Good recommendations by boxalot IMO, Waterfront will be packed if the weather is good. Jumped off the bridge there for a bet while at uni atsch Thought about the Approach but if the weather is good, Castle, Waterfront or the roof terrace at Saltwater or even Golden Fleece are the places to be.
