i stand by what i say i and back it up with numbers.lot of posters on here just want to sing insults and have no debate what so ever
i have no desire to insult you but there is no debate. floyd mayweather jr is a very good fighter with a light resume. Sugar was a near perfect fighter who beat 10 hall of fame fighters this is a top performance against a top middleweight, including one of the top ko's on film [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdROjwy34qU[/ame] here is an old robinson fighting at light heavy in 90 degree heat. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B96LUj6R_pQ&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL35909E0A02C451FB[/ame] here is a link to a debate on modern v 'classic' fighters with many good points http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=401618 i am not going to say bad things about floyd because a lot of unfair stuff gets thrown around but the fact is many historical welters beat him, whether at resume or how good they look on film.
Sad you never saw SRR live in his prime, l. Suspect ya wouldn't have started this thread...in fact, probably would jump on his bandwagon.
cas so many welterweights that start at 130 and are 5'8 and 35 fight the recognised mw champion of the world. god what is floyd doing not hopping in there/:huh atsch
the two fights i posted were past prime and above natural weight, but given the opponents and circumstances they should show how special he was. I don't like this comparison but if he is just hopkins with more power, speed (hand and foot), endurance, chin, punch variation, athleticism and reflexes,(but with less ring iq), then he should still beat floyd pretty easily.
One thing I will say is that, from what little footage I've seen, Robinson does seem to have very wide swings sometimes, and his defence isn't particularly striking either. (Although his offensive work shines -- he looks like a wrecking machine at points, beating people as if they were heavy bags.) I can understand why some might prefer Floyd, but to say that he 'dominates' him? Surely a troll. Floyd wouldn't even dare to step into the ring with a prime Pac -- Floyd would never fight someone as accomplished as Robinson.
