It overperforms by 20%, and the guy with the fixed fee just left $10m on the table. Seems weird to go to those lengths to make the case that Floyd's proposed split is 60/40, when it'd make so much more sense to just offer 60/40, if that's really the target.

The point was not the 2.5m buys, nor the 60/40 either, the ratio was a result rather than the premise. Best course of approach would be to take the guarantee, and take 50/50 in excess of a certain number of buys (HINT it doesn't have to be 2.5m), assuming Arum is out of the picture. That benchmark however, depending where it's set, will directly affect how much Floyd will gain from bearing the risk, and at 16 million (2.5m buys), its not too bad. I'm sure Arum would make more, considering that at one point Arum wanted to be the sole promoting entity.

The gurantee of 22.5 is his gurantee pay not matter what..... The PPV money is extra for the fighters, providing the buys reach a certain benchmark.

Let's say the PPV flops.......the "gurantee" means the fighters pay is protected...hence, the gurantee. I actually thought 22.5 was Floyds last gurantee but was enlightened from another poster that 22.5 was Pacs gurantee and Floyd set the record for 32 million in his with Miguel.

A lot of people here only know the sweet science but know **** when it comes to the business side of boxing.

As a co-promoter of the event, pacquiao is taking a risk here (as a capitalist) as with any business venture.

Either you chose a lower or bigger guaranteed money. If you chose a bigger guaranteed purse, you'll be getting little percentage of the PPV sales (sorry you can't have both HBO and Top Rank have to make money too).

Obviously Pac opted for lower guaranteed purse but a bigger slice of the PPV sales. The upside is the potential to make more if it becomes a box office blockbuster.

Now everyone should get the idea why Floyd had so much guaranteed prize.
