Nah, he's a BJJ guy. I think this might be a goof, but if not I imagine it's just a hobby of Roy's. He has certainly shown little of his Kung Fu training in the Octagon
A lot of guys started with kung fu to tae kwon do or such things before moving on to the useful ones for mma competition. Anyone who has seen Nelson fight knows that he relies on his boxing first, wrestling second and BJJ third. The only kicks I've ever seen from him are thai kicks and though are few and far between. I think he's playing this up as a gag.
Watch the video. It's all in there. But of course he is a jiujitsu black belt. His striking base was kung fu though. I think that makes him the single toughest kung fu guy ever in MMA.
I think its more of a hobby than real mma practice he doesnt seem to do the 1-inch punch and stuff like that in his fights
