Frochs speed tonight? He looked pretty quick tonight to be honest. Do you think this was down to Bute? Or an adjustment in Carl's style?
He wasn't loading up - I think his reputation of having power went to his head a little, Mckracken seems to have to have sorted him out!
I think part of it was the shots he was throwing. The shots that ****ed Bute up were straight punches, right down the middle instead of his usual slower wide punches. He also threw from some different angles - he has a lot of success with the straight right thrown from down by his side. Just my opinion.
He was a different fighter in my opinion. Very disciplined until he had Bute on the go and a clinical performance in getting the stoppage.
Well romance and British euphoria aside, the crux of this fight was crude bum-rushes and leaving oneself exposed while reigning in all manner of technically deficient punches. It worked because of the deficient chin and general cluelessness of the Bute to such tactics. But it worked, so kudos to the victor; but let's try and have a little self-control before anointing the second coming of the messiah.
At one point i thought he was going to punch himself out. Round 3 and 4 threw a lot of leather... I was thinking he wasNt accurate as he shouldve been. He hasnt got 1 punch ko power but he has heavy hands. Bute also has got good heart, for goiNg on after the pummelling he took.
2 things at play here: 1. Froch was NEVER as slow as many have claimed 2. (and more importantly) Bute was NEVER anything close to as fast as some would have had you believe I took a lot of criticisms from people when I said in my short fight preview piece that "Bute was probably a little faster than Froch" - but was I really far off the mark? :smoke
Considering how clearly Froch won the fight, I find your reply kind of insulting and rude to be honest. Just give credit where it's due, is that realy so hard?
I thought he was still very slow and had he not gotten Bute out early, he would've had massive trouble with the left hook he kept getting caught with and the body shots as the fight went on.
I got this feeling too. How many rounds could he keep throwing? It was more than enough to take Bute out though!!
Behave. He seemed to match Bute's speed though (or at very least counter it), he even looked a bit quicker to be honest. That was beyond surprising!!
Kudos is a means of anointing credit, in case you didn't know. Full respect to Froch, the victor. What do you consider to be the essential moment of this fight? Personally, I consider it to be the moment when Froch hurt Bute. After that he continued to put it on him him BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY; with reckless abandon. All I'm suggesting is that we don't get too precious and start seeing wholesale improvements in instances where we have a concrete case of styles (and adaptability to particular styles) determining the outcome of fights.
Well rather that than the internet hard-guy / psycho; I'm-rock-soild-because-I-can-swear-type; comrade. And how appalling was Glenn Mccrory tonight? Sack the punt.
