The ref waved the fight off and then decided to issue a standing eight.

Embarrassing officiating there tonight. He also strangely gave Froch some sort of warning I believe in round two the first time Bute looked like he was in trouble.

The bbb of c does random year round drug testing, unlike American commissions who make you pee in a cup after a fight, allowing for the cycling out of banned substances (i.e. micro dosing) and allow up to 6:1 testsoterone and don't enact CIR testing from the onset of testing protocl being initiated - ok then!:hi:

Technically Bute should be DQ'ed the moment his guys were on the apron according to the IBF guy prior to the fight apparently, and that was before nobhead jumped in the ring.

Butes team to be fair to them were only concerned for their man and not interested in trying to claim any DQ, or prevent a ko or anything else. It seems everyone on the planet knew the fight was over an 8 count before the ref did.

I did notice the announcer at the end didnt actually say what the win was, only who had one. I think they will sleep on it overnight and work out what to call it later. if there is a complaint about knobhead getting in the ring there will be a counterclaim of butes corner on the apron beforehand, so bute might end up with a DQ which would be an injustice to him.

I might be wrong on this but I think a fighter only gets dq'ed if their cornermen enter the ring / get on the apron or whatever and I dont think the knobhead, although on the team, would actually count.

You are correct about the ring apron. That's what happened in the recent fight (sucks getting old can't remember the boxers!)....the cornerman was on the apron and he got DQ'd. So you'd have to see who was first...the Froch guy in the ring, or the Bute guy on the apron.

**** it....Froch brutalized Bute so let's forget the DQ BS. It's the kind of beating that ends careers...i wonder if bute will man up and take the CONTRACTED rematch in Quebec.

The referee was very poor tonight and got lucky that it wasn't a close fight. The breaks were too slow, too weak, and then too long, with too many extended warnings.

And he clearly waved off the fight at the end, whether he meant to or not. And if he did not mean to, why not? Bute was sagging through the ropes, and usually when a guy's head gets snapped back like that, it's an automatic stoppage.

Not as extreme tonight, but check out Corrales/Castillo I for an example of great, timely refereeing.

Nah it was Froch people on the apron and into the ring first.
It could be a DQ. And the circumstances for the Floyd fight are different.

It should be ruled a NC, same as Klitschko vs. Haye.

Nobody should be expected to box when their toe hurts. :bart
