I say make it happen... Personally I enjoy watching Froch & think Carl's style would trouble Joe. (Sucks Joe never wanted to entertain the peeps of England w/This fight)
Joe wont exactly have home advatage here...and after eeing struggle againt Reid and a shot Eubank....Froch hurts him several time on route to a UD 116-112 Calzaghe never had the mentality to test himself like Froch... He is also absolutely nothing like Andre WArd.... IAnyone who saw Hopkins vs Calzgha know Ward would have tapped Joes little welsh ass
Kessler away vs. Kessler at home. Hell of a difference there. Also, a legacy shouldn't be decided on just one fight. Calzaghe didn't have as many tough opponents as he could have had. He's got that 0 and the fights vs. Kessler and Hopkins, but that's pretty much it. Froch is closing in on him fast.
Surely this would be a huge fight still if Joe decided to come back from his coke binge. I wouldn't give Froch much of a chance against a prime Joe...he wouldn't embarrass himself but he would get outpointed.
Never say never to this fight happening, how many fighters come out of retirement for one last big payday! I'm not sure how much Calzaghe made during his career, but im sure a Froch Calzaghe fight in the UK would be massive.
Fought and beaten you say ? Ward outclassed Froch, Kessler beat Froch clearly, what does that leave Froch with compared to Calzaghe who has wins over Hopkins and Kessler. People give too much credit when comparing boxers for losses, a loss is a loss, i could get in the ring with Froch, Kessler, Calzaghe, Ward etc and lose in the first minute of the first round in every fight and still claim to have a great resume ?, greater than other boxers that had not fought all of those names. The bottomline is Calzaghe not only would have beaten Froch easily head to head he has a much better resume as well, Hopkins, Kessler, Roy Jones, Eubank, Lacy is miles better than Pascal, Taylor, Johnson, Abraham and Bute.
Froch would have beaten 37/38 year old Calzaghe without a doubt, so I can see why Zaghes avoided him at the end fo his career. Its an odd thing that Zaghes only got famous and rated when he started losing his abilities, right at the end. But prime 30 year old Zaghes is too fit and sharp and wise to lose to him.
I think Froch has gone on record saying that he would never fight forty plus guys thats a bums way of racking up wins. I totally agree with him. Kessler was a good win though, I agree with that point of yours.
I was at the MEN arena and watched Calzaghe v Starrie. Calzaghe was ****ing dreadful and would have been destroyed by last nights Froch.
Froch may end up with a better legacy (and it really is admirable the way he has fought in the back yard of opponents), but Calzaghe was superhuman, and a very good puncher before he had china hands, so prime Froch vs pretty much any version of Calzaghe is a loss on pts for froch. If he fought a young prime Calzaghe, he may have been knocked out too. As much as i liked the super 6, only Ward was anywhere near the level of the Calzaghes of the world. Brutal win for Froch last night too
One of Froch's last fights was against Glen Johnson, Johnson had never ever won a title at super middleweight and was 42 years of age.
