Jeff Mayweather says Martienez vs Floyd will never happen talks bad about Khan

Jeff just keeps it real says Floyd can still box, Floyd is not a 154 lb fighter, Floyd was bleeding because he had a cold and Floyd would beat the **** out of Khan.

On May 5th, Floyd pulled out a unanimous decision in a bit of a grueling battle as he overcame the constant rushes of Cotto, ultimately prevailing because of his ability to evade punches and the sharp counters he offered in return. It wasn’t your typical Floyd Mayweather fight and Jeff hinted that there were other factors in play that led to the bout being so suspenseful.

“I thought Floyd pretty much dominated the fight,” Jeff would say from the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas recently “It was a lopsided exciting fight because of the fact that Cotto did try and he landed a few shots. But going into the fight, I already knew Floyd was sick. He had a cold going into the fight and that’s really why his nose was bleeding more so than the punches by Cotto.”

In Jeff’s opinion, Floyd was hell bent on producing a resounding performance and in turn the landscape of the duel changed dramatically.

“I think what it was, was that Floyd had his mind set on knocking Cotto out,” Jeff continued. “And basically that’s the reason why he even fought that way. Because if he would have fought like he did the first two rounds the entire fight, it would have been an easy night and it would have been a lopsided decision.”

Earlier this week, The Koncrete Jungle swung through the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles and caught up with trainer Freddie Roach, known best for his work with Mayweather rival Manny Pacquiao. Roach weighed in on the Mayweather-Cotto fight and implied that Floyd’s legs are gone and that is why he is now a much more stationary fighter compared to his early fighting days.

Uncle Jeff immediately disagreed with Roach’s assessment.

“It’s not true. I’ve seen Floyd box in the gym and the whole time leading up to the camp he was moving whenever he wanted to,” Jeff would continue. “Basically, Floyd’s chosen to stand in front of these guys because they still can’t hit him. And he could do the same thing to Manny. What difference does it make if he moves or don’t move? At the end of the day, what does Manny bring other than wild punches?”

With a Mayweather-Pacquiao fighting seeming less likely as time passes, Jeff was asked whether there are any other enticing fights on the horizon for Lil’ Floyd.

On the Mayweather-Cotto undercard, WBC junior middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez systematically beat down former three-division champion Shane Mosley over twelve fairly entertaining rounds. The 21-year old Alvarez has emerged as one of the hottest names in the sport and some feel that Golden Boy Promotions will surely angle him towards a Mayweather fight in the future.

Jeff admitted that Alvarez showed some definite substance against the 40-year old Mosley but he was quick to put things into perspective.

“I was impressed but at the same time it was what I expected,” Jeff added. “Shane hasn’t shown no fire since the fight with Margarito and every fight since then, the only thing you can look back is that he had a spark against Floyd that lasted for one round and it was gone.”

Another potential high-profile opponent for Mayweather would be former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan, who is eyeing a July 14th assignment of his own against tough Philadelphian and WBC champion Danny Garcia.

Khan has been expressing interest in a fight with Mayweather for quite some time but Jeff was unabashed as he took some shots at the Bolton, Lancashire stalwart.

“I’m not that high on Amir Khan,” Jeff claimed. “I think Amir Khan is a glorified amateur. He has fast hands and decent movement, but his balance is horrible and his timing seems to be horrible to me. I’m not really impressed with him at all.

“I think it will be a joke it he finds himself getting in the ring with Floyd. Of course Freddie Roach don’t see it that way because he wants to get paid.”
