In light of last nights complete **** up, i ask exactly how difficult is it to get something so simple, so wrong? The standard of refereeing in boxing just seems dreadful, barely a weekend goes by where we are not discusssing the incompetance of this ref or that ref. Last nights decision to wave it off then count was simple unbelievable, coupled with not allowing a single exchange on the inside, a form of fighting that is well within the rules. Something needs to be done to relegate these idiots from world title fights.
Fortunately the fight was so one sided there's been no call for a DQ on a technicality but the refereeing **** up could have cost Froch the fight. Slightly amusing that it's the opposite of a "British stoppage" we're complaining about,
I've argued just the same point...some **** needs to be unemployed as a consequence. Didn't Eddie ploughing into the ring nullify the decision? Obviously it didn't, but...surely it should have done...
Didn't Eddie say at the IBF rules meeting it was stated that if a corner man climbed on the ring apron during a round their fighter would be disqualified? As soon as he saw Bute's corner do that he knew it was finished anyway. Surely there are no IBF standing counts anyway, the ref desperately trying to keep Bute in the fight. I was more worried with that referee trying to get Bute killed. To seriously only give a count with a man in that state, to think he would have let Froch attack Bute again... just disgusting really. We get either British stoppages or psychos like last night's ref.
Many ref's pay their membership dues and attend the boxing organizations conventions to be seen and heard.Their support is rewarded by appointing these ass kissers to big event fights such as Froch-Bute. Disgraceful. It is impossible to embarass the IBF or the other boxing bodies. They have incredible thick skin.:dead
I just rewatched Froch-Bute and that stupid **** referee was looking for camera time after 30 seconds, he ruined a nice little exchange between the fighters to wag his finger and 'stamp his authority' - you could tell right from the off that he was a joke. These useless ****in referees should be sacked and never be heard off again.
I didn't think the ref was so bad last night apart from the 'stoppage' which he ALMOST cocked up. I reckon he thought Bute was being held up by the ropes and jumped in with his arms up to stop Froch from clocking him one. It must be very difficult to make sure you get it 100% right 100% of the time. Still every ****er on here would obviously do a much better job
There needs to be uniformity in the way refs approach a fight - i.e. attitude towards pushing, holding, rabid punching, leading with the head etc should all be judged equally in a negative light - not a case of lets give greater precedence to one fouling method over another - ahem Joe Cooper.
I think the ref got caught up in the moment, which is ridiculous. You could see as he run in waving his hands around like a mong, after a couple of seconds he had an 'oh ****' moment as he didn't want to stop it and just give a count. Which again was stupid, as everyone in the arena could see Bute was basically unconscious.
