How many times does it have to shown that if you can't take a punch, you are going to have trouble remaining vertical in a boxing ring?? Lucian Bute is only the latest in a LONG line of fighters with CLEARLY questionable punch resistance who have been exposed the first time they really stepped it up. Anyone who saw the first Andrade fight could have predicted that Froch would have destroyed Bute, IF they recognized the CENTRAL importance of having a good chin to success in boxing. The only that saved Bute from getting KTFO was corrupt referee Marlon Wright. Well, last night Marlon wasn't there, and Bute ended up where he would have the first time....knocked out. But unfortunately, many do not. Or, perhaps more accurately, they let their blind-hero worship interfere with their recognition of which fighters have questionable punch resistance. Unfortunately, among the modern, uncritical, hero-worshippping boxing fan, there is a tendency to equate questioning a fighter's ability to take a punch with "hate" or "disrespect" - as if pointing out REALITY is hating. This silliness, sadly, impedes recognition of the critical importance of punch resistance in boxing, and is the reason why myself and other discerning boxing fans have made it our life's work to try to elighten these poor souls who cannot, as a result of the blinders they wear, see that GLASS JAWS EXIST in BOXING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have an obsessive personality? All you ever do is bang on about the importance of punch resistance... Don't you ever get bored? Plus, who actually denies glass jaws exist in boxing?
I don't think it starts and ends with the glass jaw. Froch just exposed Bute as being heavily overrated, period.
If anything I thought Bute showed excellent punch resistance by withstanding a horrible beating for 2 and a half rounds. His defence is dog ****, not his jaw.
Your 'jaw' can be as good as it gets, but if it keeps being hit.. Its a matter of time before you go down!
It wasn't his chin that failed him, it was his courage. He folded up like a kid when he started tasting some real leather. And that opened the door for him to eat more big shots.
Man punched repeatedly by professionally trained world champion fighter in TKO shocker! Yawn. Legitimate knockdowns and knockouts exist in boxing. Fact.
I agree but watch Bute taking first solid shot and he looked like he was absolute freezed. I dont know has Bute been hit earlier or what was that... It was just weird how easily did he fold.:?
This is coming from a glass jawed victim him/herself. How did you feel when you first came out of being ktfo Zak.
