Bute would be stupid not to exercise his rematch clause!

er, his health? Do you think the Cobra would risk leaving it to the judges in montreal and go easy on him? Bute want's to make damn sure he's better equipped before going anywhere near Froch again, whatever the purse.

 

Hearn was saying Bute can't fight an immediate rematch for the title as he was just knocked out. Said he'd have to fight someone else first.

 

I dont think Bute should go straight after Froch immediately as he wasnt just beaten, he was completely dominated and beaten easily.
I think Bute should fight another world class SMW and think Bute against Ward would still be a good fight as Ward seems wary of Bute and his power and Ward doesnt have massive power, so Bute wont have to worry as much about being stopped again.
If Bute wins that, he would be top of the tree and in a better driving seat, and I wouldnt bet against Bute to win that, in the styles make fights arguement. Win that and go for Froch again, another devastating loss could finish Bute

the big problem with a rematch is that Bute cant handle Frochs power. He was wobbled as early as the 2nd with a short right - over a 12 round fight carl is going to catch him sooner or later and there isnt much he can do about that. Sure he can improve and make Froch miss abit more and try and use his legs to get away from Carl's rushes but sooner or later hes going to have to take some heavy fire and we have already seen he just cant do it. Anybody with a dig is going to be looking a Bute now for a bit of name recognition.

 

I see it as a styles make fights thing.
Ward likes to be on someones chest and Froch struggles in that type of fight. I think Bute/Ward is a very 50/50 fight as Butes body shots are effective.
I thought Bute would clearly beat Froch, but have always said that I think Bute would go into a shell a bit when attacked. Often Froch steps off after landing but didnt against Bute and it paid off. Bute often steps off also.

I dont think Ward seemed much faster, just had a style that Froch struggled to adapt to. Froch doesnt do well in close

Froch going for world titles is a different animal. Look how Froch performed against Pascal, Abraham and Bute, rather than some of his defences where he seems lazy at times

 

Bute - Dirrell should be good, after what Dirrell called him it's revenge time. That is if he is able and if he wants to go on.

I don't see a rematch let alone a future at all in the sport of boxing for Bute. I realize the Bute camp was gracious in defeat which is good. But I've never seen a favored champion get so brutally destroyed. Froch completely owned Bute whilst ripping out the man's soul. Froch, taking the hard road throughout his career, proved he was the greater boxer and greater man Saturday night. Finally, (and I'm not Canadian or Romanian thank God), Bute really disgraced those two nations by proving the respective populace worships hype jobs. I hate to say it, by Froch's owning of Bute Saturday is the definition of getting exposed as a fraud.

 

I agree, he can hardly do worse in a rematch. Chances are it'll be more competitive and he'll be able to raise his stock a little bit. Mosley raised his stock in rematches against Forrest and Winky.

"The rematch is in the contract, he (Froch) is obligated to provide it and it will be in Montreal. At least I think that will be there. I will talk with my coach and my staff. I do not know when it will be. Maybe we will both take 1 fight before and after that we will fight."
