Bute would be stupid not to exercise his rematch clause!

Rocky came back strong after a drubbing from Clubber Lang.

 

He should definetelly excercise the rematch clause, but not for an immediate fight. Let them both fight someone else next then have another go in Canada.

Now, if something else shows up in the meantime for Bute, like a Pavlik/Stieglitz option, then maybe he should drop the rematch alltogether.

 

2 losses in a row (most probable outcome) could end up detrimental to Bute's career.

 

Care to explain how Canada and Romania got "disgraced" by an over 4 years champion? Was good then but is trash now?

Maybe you should tell us your nationality so that we know who "disgraced" your nation, "thank God" by the way too.

 

Dumbest thing he could do would be walk into that slaughterhouse again. This isn't like the Lewis-Rahman rematch or Lewis-McCall or Jones-Griffin or even Lee-Vera, Bute had NOTHING in that fight that even remotely troubled Froch. He looked worse than Hatton did against Mayweather, he isn't on the same class as Froch and nowhere near the class of Ward.

His best bet would be to retire, short of that get a new trainer and actually fight guys who won't fold like lawn chairs on the world stage then maybe he could actually not get embarrassed against the class of the division.

 

Maybe now some of the fighters that I read who didnt want to fight Bute, will be more willing

Even if Bute took a confidence builder and then took a Froch rematch, what kind of fight is going to offer anything that he could learn from? Froch has his number, a rematch would be just as, if not more brutal. Froch would be looking for blood. This was no Prescott-Khan blink-and-you-miss-it affair, Froch was wobbling him with everything he threw.

If Bute takes a rematch it would be to cash out, he has no chance against Froch.

 

One thing to bare in mind is that Froch is a complete different animal when hes got no title and is looking to win one, ie Pascal, Abraham and Bute. When Froch is defending he can often be very lazy

 

What if Froch wants the agreed return fight?

 

The problem for Bute is that there really is nothing to build on from this loss. He was badly beaten from the first bell. Exercising the rematch clause might end his career if he takes another brutal loss.

If I was Bute I'd take off the rest of the year off and evaluate if the desire to fight is still there. And then Id probably recommend a move to 175 if he wants to continue. After all he has been known to struggle with the weight a bit.
