Ward could be massive if he dared to be. He is a nice enough fella but for me the way his career is being constructed is much that is wrong with boxing today. Never would i be silly enough to state that froch would beat him but as a fan i would love to see him try again, after all we want to see our fighters test them selves against the best and carl has always been happy to oblige.

Ward is not Floyd Mayweather, not even close to being anything like when it comes to earning. I actually think a fight in the uk against froch (if he beats kessler) would be financially very rewarding for ward, not to mention the increase in fan base etc.

the way his career's being constructed? I dont get it, how is his career indicative of what's wrong with boxing? I can understand if you think he sould be fighting outside of oakland more often, but did he not dominate the super six tournament, including the guy in your avatar?

Like i said, robbed suggests he was dominated by Dirrell. do you think this was the case?

Dawson did fight pascal. Ward gets credit from me if steps up to 175 and beats chad at his weight. Like i said ward and his fans think he has nothing to prove at super middle so why stay unless it is being used as an advantage over dawson. If he fights at 168lb then he wont get no credit from me.

Yeah the Dirrell fight wasnt that close.

If he beats Dawson at 168 he gets credit from me. Dawson beats Froch at 168:deal

You're implying that "robberies" can only happen when a fighter gets blown out of the water but still gets a decision. This type of thinking is excuse making for the shitty judging that we're subjected to on a regular basis in this sport. Plenty of fights are close, yet have a clear winner. IMO Dirrell/Froch was in that category. Yeah, Dirrell spoiled, ran and held, but he still won more rounds than Froch. I haven't seen anybody make a case for Froch winning the rounds in the second half of the fight (where he was more effective at throwing rabbit punches and executing Greco-Roman wrestling throws than landing clean, effective blows) without launching into a personal attack on Dirrell.

Look, don't get me wrong here, I have not once gone on record saying that froch would ever beat ward. even before their first fight.

What i am saying is Andre Ward is not a fan friendly fighter mainly because he will not travel and likes the odds stacked in his favour. the mere fact that they refused to be involved in the S6 unless he got the home advantage suggests to me that he is the kind of fighter who don't want to take risks whilst seeking an unfair advantage. What makes it worse is that he is so good at what he does that he doesn't need any advantage, true world class operators don't.

I don't mind his style even if he does hit and hold a bit too much. It's his lack of power that is the problem because it leads to the inevitable 12 round decision.

nope you are putting words into my mouth:nono

I just happen to disagree with you in that it was a very close fight that either fighter could have won. Dirrell behaved like a ***** and deserved his loss. Ducking down low, turning away from punches like a jibbing dog is not going to win you a fight away from home against a champ nor many fans.

how the **** you can say dawson beats froch at 168 is beyond me in that you don't even know how he is going to deal with coming down to the weight yet, if indeed he does.

I love Froch but stylistically ward is just a bad match up for him. Ward has the ability to beat Froch at all ranges on top of that he has good defense and a high ring iq not only that he's just as tough mentally and physically as Froch is and won't be bullied. I think ward beats any version of Froch.

fair point. so, it's less about how his career is being constructed, which I would take to mean, who he's actually fighting, than it is about the decisions he makes regarding fight terms? if so, I am in agreement with you, except I do really think the jury's out in that area. he's in his prime and still can disprove the notions you have about his willingness to travel.

I am always happy to be proved wrong and if Ward suddenly changes his ways then as a fan of boxing i would be a fan of his. For me the way he and his team sort the home advantage (best terms) in the s6 is part of who he is and therefore a part of how his career is constructed. I have no problems with who he is fighting but would have thought he would have sort to become undisputed by beating bute before froch did.

Dawon is just a better boxer if Carl want to take up that challenge after Dawson loses to the SOG I am sure Dawson will oblige
