I am not so sure.. butes trainer openly admitted that he took a shot in the 2nd round and couldn't recover from it. If you watch round 2 with approx 1.20 to go froch catches him with a solid shot, nothing mental, just good power. After this he completely capitulates cos in all fairness he didn't start too bad. He did seem to have problems with avoiding and coping with the power of frochs right hand from the off.
How about you actually give Froch some credit instead of just completely backtracking on your favourite fighter?
Cool thanks. I'll have to check it out. Either way, It seemed to me he was getting hurt by punches that didnt seem to have all that much steam on them.
Ok. Saw what you were talking about, and you were right about it hurting Bute. And it was a short clubbing left and then a short right that seemed land behind the ear or the side of Bute's head. Doesnt seem like the kind of shot that should have really sent bute into a downward spiral, but hey, it's baxing. Froch isn't known for his 1 punch KO power, and that certainly didn't seem to be a big shot. I'd like to see what his team says about the fact that he got rocked by shots like that...... Several times.
Man, people are so dramatic ... Give Bute a break. He took monster shots in there. I dont know many boxers who would have stayed up from the shots he took. He took MANY vicious, hard, clean, straight punches. I remember one in particular (in the third I think) where Froch took a full swing at it and connected straight on the chin. Bute's punch resistance is clearly not great but he can still compete with the likes of Kessler, ward, dirrel, pascal ...
People that really know boxing know that Bute's main problem is not really his chin or his punch resistance but his inside game. He doesnt know how to defend himself on the inside. He doesnt catch punches, uses his elbows, roll effectively with punches, hold effectively, buy time etc ... He has no clue of how to lead an offence from the inside. It is like out of 12 chapters on how to be a boxer, Bute's trainer skip a whole chapter. Bute only fight from one distance and it has always been the same one. On the distance perspective, he really is unidimensional. That is why he is never going to win agains a guy like Ward or hopkins. Hopkins knows it, saw it. This is why he has been calling bute's name for months.
I'm still confident that Bute has KO power and the necessary offense to give him a punchers chance in the rematch...but...he either wilted under pressure or his chin is not good enough, one thing is clear is that his defense is poor. All in all I don't see him coming back to beat elite guys like Ward and Froch.
