He ONLY lost to Pacman and Floyd.

That makes you incredible at boxing not "could have been alot better". People on here think if you lose to the best fighter in the world then your not good.

Oh **** off... I'm getting hit whilst moving my head so maybe i should just stop moving it all together... because a static head is so much harder to punch.... shut the **** up. You clearly never boxed competatively... if you did i would bet you weren't too successful.

If you're a pressure fighter and headmovement alone isn't evading punches, yes you'll bring your guard up higher but when you are trying to pressure your opponent you still keep upper body movement to slip the jab to get inside....

Hatton Charging in, using his face as defence = a fighter on decline, got used to bull rushing his opponents and forgot the fundamentals of being a pressure fighter.

That bolded bit is just ******ed.... Hatton was an inside fighter. Why the **** would he want to avoid an inside fight??????? He was holding because he stopped moving his head. Because he wasn't slipping the jab on his way in there was no opening when he got inside and had probably taken several punches on his way in so elected to hold.

I used that term because people that have boxed, better understand the reasoning behind certain actions deployed by a fighter in a fight compared to your average fan that has never boxed.

I agree, let's not forget, the only people he lost to are possible HOF candiates (certainties some might say).

My issue, and many people's, is his fluctuating weight, you simply cannot go from 140 to 182 (sometimes more) and not take it out of your body. He aged far far to quickly.

Hatton was a great fighter, a great entertainer, but sadly fell short against two of the greatest fighters of a generation. No shame IMO.

If he'd retired without loss, and without Pac and PBF on his resume, he would have probably got more praise...which is ridiculous.

So if someone is catching you time after time when you try to slip.... Keep doing it? = Get Dropped

Static head with a high guard and focus on blocking/parrying with using lateral movement to avoid punches/ not letting you're opponent get set is better than moving you're head fruitlessly while the guy is beating the **** out of you....

"Oh **** off" "shut the **** up", "you've clearly never.... even if you did you were not good", Wow, I must of touched a nerve.. Because you're acting like an insecure ***** right now...

You need to become a man. I'm not going to teach you, because that should have been you're fathers job. You're cursing does not intimidate anyone, you come off as a spoiled child that does not get his way....

Sounds like you are threatened because someone is "questioning you're boxing knowledge".... Pathetic

Im going to ignore the rest of you're post :-(

So esentially what you're saying is... regardless off what your style of fighting is and what you need to do to get your own shots off... forget that and elect to go into survival mode??? Hatton had to work his way inside to fight his fight. Lateral movement with a high guard is not going to get you inside.

Mixing up the jab to head and body, feinting to draw your opponents lead... now those are valid ways to change up your game to get you inside without shipping so much damage. lateral movement and high guard when you are a pressure fighter that relies on getting inside is a ****ing dreadful idea.

Grow up **** wit. You got a few fruity words in a reply to your bull****, know **** all post and instead of arguing your case you've switched to personal attacks.... Terms i used in that post to you are the same i would use when debating with my friends... nothing malicious in it so don't be so sensitive sweetheart.

He lost to the two greatest of his era, still he had certain things going against him vs Floyd and Pac.
vs Floyd, agreeing to fight him at his weight, the ref,
vs Pac, believing he'd steamroll Pac, having such an unprofessional trainer who also seemed to enforce this belief having no plan B or C in place
No great shame should be taken in those losses, and sure he could've done better under different circumstances. For the circumstances he had he did the best he could, unless you want to go into him ballooning up in weight, but that's who he was and if he wasn't allowed to be the regular guy after his fights he wouldn't have been Ricky Hatton. Plus he always showed up in shape. Hatton was a great fighter in his own right, best 140lber of his generation, had the best fans ever in the sport supporting him and consistently crossing continents to watch him.

I think his skills, style and bravado caused him in 2 fights. Proper technique we know Floyd wins hands down. Hatton was getting schooled. In the Pacquiao fight he was getting out jabbed and his porous defense he was getting diced and sliced from the opening bell too open and reckless literally running into shots. He was a great in fighter though but mostly useless mid range. He has to clinch to do some damage or land a hail mary shot mid-range.

SKILLS pay the bills and Hatton could not box to save his life.He needs a ref like he had against Tszyu to be very effective.

read the prior posts.... When did I say my advice is for a pressure fighter?

I've talked only of my personal experiences, and I am not a pressure fighter...

The style I am speaking of is not survival mode... It's a careful style that relies on circling you're opponent with a strong fast jab, while being wary of counters

Again, when did I advise Ricky to take this style? I simply stated that when head movement fails you, there are other options.

You started off with the personal attacks... Funny, you can't take the heat even though you are the one that started it :lol:

You try to come off as the bigger man, even though you started with the feminine low blows. These are the classic symptoms of a bully, when someone stands up to them, they fold like a deck of cards and try to play the victim..

Funny how you try to emasculate me.... After you acted like a complete *****

    Who are you fooling? :patsch

I think the opposite is true.
Ricky achieved a fantastic amount for having such limited ability. For a guy with no jab to get as far as Ricky did and become one of the most sought-out opponents in the game was remarkable.

:patsch... a discussion on how Ricky Hattons style changed as he declined turned into you discussing how his style changed against certain opposition... without actually discussing Ricky's style??????

Crack on treacle... you aint the full ticket.

There is a reason Floyd is top DAWG, it's SKILLS! Hatton lacked that kind of skill to take him to the next level.

In fact this guy relied heavily on sheer brute strength and power to impose his will on his opponents. He can get away with that against no hopers.

Against the elite. A good boxer will always beat a brawler. Case in point; Pacquiao vs Marquez and Hatton vs Mayweather.

I believe Pacquiao is a better boxer than hatton shockinly enough .Since pacquiao is the most awkward boxer I have ever seen with an ugly style lol.

Pacquiao has a good jab.He actually far more accurate with his combos than Hatton. He has good footwork, timing and counter punching, angles and head movement.

He is not slick like Floyd or Marquez but he has some underrated boxing skills and techniques.

I clearly stated I was speaking about myself every time.....

It seems you were in such a hurry to disprove my point, that you did not read my sentences properly. I understand, for you this is all about egos. Who "knows the most about boxing", "who is the coolest guy"..... I don't give a **** about that, I just like to talk about boxing....

Once Hatton fought Tszyu/World Class Fighters, he stopped using feints, head movement ect...

    Instead he started to hold/smother...

From what I gather from you're posts, You beleive that it is not because he stepped up in class.... Its because he was already past his prime?

    Is this correct ? :think

Oh sorry... i was too busy talking about the topic of the thread and arguing the point you originally commented on... silly me... should have known we were talking about you :patsch

Yup... that is correct. I also believe his ego in believing he could steam roll everyone after he did it to Tszyu was a factor. Against Tszyu the smothering tactic was a good one. He dragged Tszyu into deep water, smothering Tszyu's work, not allowing him to get leverage on that right hand and drowning him in the late rounds.

At his best Hatton had tremendous head movement and ways of working inside. Due to this he also had a very solid mid range game which he was able to use because he was drawing the lead from his opponent before stepping into range. Post Tszyu Hatton gave up on all of that.

Hatton fought completely different against Lazcano as he did against Tszyu... would you say that is down to class of opposition???

Hat ton was world class, just got found wanting at the elite level. His lack of dedication between fights let him down and caught up with him. He loved his pints and **** food. Still had a brilliant career.

So you believe that Hatton was already past prime after Tszyu?
That is the reason for the holding? It has nothing to do with the fact that he stepped up in class?

Hatton starts facing good opponents = Hatton is past his prime :huh
Why? Because he can't knock them out like he did the WBU contenders?

As for the lacanzo fight... Ricky apparently had "the flu" during that fight

Btw, It was not me that brought "who has boxed" into this argument... It was you're attempt at condescending my opinion by stating "anyone who has boxed before will agree with me":lol::lol:

And when someone brings up their boxing experiences (Which disproves you're hypothesis), you claim they are off-topic?

I really hope you are under 18... :patsch
