Cotto should step in to fight Canelo

Cotto is shot. Just look at the 12th round against Margarito part 2. He survived and was ready to collapse if the fight went for another round.

There's a chance of Golden Boy's golden goose losing. Nope, it won't happen.

 

They need a big fight for that weekend. Cotto would be it, but I seriously doubt it. Lara would be a good challenger, but he's a relative unknown for such a big weekend. I'd like to see them match him with Ortiz, should Ortiz come through his fight with Lopez alright. These guys are about the same size, I can see Ortiz filling into 154 no problem, but I don't think its enough time and I imagine GBP will try to find a replacement for Williams in a week or two.

 

What, fighting again 2/3 months later.? You have to admire Canelo. I know he's experienced, but still very young and yet he's willing to fight all comers, and fight regularly. Can't fault the kid in that regard. If he fights Kirkland then Cotto before the year is out, I'll be mightily impressed, regardless of results.

 

GBP aint gonna put Canelo in with anyone dangerous, hes the most protected fighter in the sport

The punisher was a more dangerous fight than Cotto.

 

I think, to a point Canelo is protected. Just not disgustingly. I would say GBP is doing a very good job with his matches thus far, except for Mosley.

It's not like P. Willie was the same one from the Margarito fight, although he was still dangerous enough for Saul at this point of his career. If Canelo truly wasn't protected, then Oscar wouldn't have said Canelo isn't ready for Mayweather, but I think they are bringing him up the right way and not throwing him to the wolves too soon.

Cotto owes his victory first and foremost to Pac and his destructive job on that eye, and second to the bribed doctor who pulled the plug on the fight just when Margo was coming on strong:-(
