From that starting position it looks like he is going to power clean the weight, not deadlift it. A power clean is a lot more useful for boxing as it's an insanely explosive exercise that builds little muscle.

Khans new coach also said that Khan will not be doing any long runs just short explosive sprints.

I believe Khan can deadlift 405, but not that he can clean it.

I doubt those are 45lb plates, most likely they are 25lbs, which means he is cleaning 225. Impressive, but not impossible.

There is no point people discussing if it's 150, 180 kg or whatever, cause he ain't lifting it! You could
Put 300000 kg on the bar and I will grab the bar, don't mean I can ****in
    Lift it.

You saw the link dude posted to Amir's twitter? That had another picture with Khan deadlifting a lot less weight. This is a joke picture or Khan is just trying to bull**** again, he has a history of making up lies about his athletic prowess.
180kg could be possible for a guy of his size with a lot of training and dedication to the lift but the fact he is a full time boxer, he doesn't have a mixed grip/straps and his form looks amateurish indicates to me that he is 100% not lifting that weight.
Also lol @ the guy who thinks weights don't improve power then bringing up physics as if he knows anything. If you knew anything about weights or physics you wouldn't have said that dumb ****.
And the dude who said that he was lifting in the 1000s for the big three lifts then stopped to do body weight training and feels more fluid and powerful... no ****, that's what periodisation is and that's why athletes have pre seasons in the weight room, you improve your max strength and then you can increase your power to a larger extent when that period of training comes round. If you're lifting heavy constantly your muscles are going to be tight and you'll be used to moving slowly neurologically. Heavy weights are a base to work off, you don't lift heavy all year round and expect to be fast and fluid at a sport that isn't based on maximum strength.

that's 405lbs if those are standard wheels.
Thats pretty heavy for a 150lb young man.

So, why would I go back to lifting weights when it's just going to make me less fluid when I can do progressive calesthenics and continue to get stronger, but also improve my balance and fluidity?

If I haven't noticed a decrease in punching power, and I can move my body faster to get out of the way of punches, what good is weight lifting?

Did Dempsey lifts weights? Mother ****er hit like a truck and was as fast as a sports car.

haha so true I was thinking the same. 14 stone (pudgy) keyboard warriors not liking it because they cannot even do 50kg without trembling. Deads strengthen the legs - a great compound exercise.
