Why would an average Joe believe he can beat a Pro Fighter?

I think it comes down to people mainly underestimating the skill involved. For instance, Marquez isn't the most athletic guy in the world yet he was able to frequently hit Pacquiao and make it look easy. The average joe might say to himself "well damn, I could have landed those punches and I'm a lot bigger than Marquez!"

Pure ignorance. Pros make it look easy so people think "hey I can that too". Then when you try to do the thingss they're doing, you realize it's not as easy as it seems.

Everyone knows 'that guy' who brags about being a tough, and who will point to the TV screen and say "I could take that boxer.'

Except 'that guy' is sitting on his fat backside having a beer.

Seriously, maybe those pro's on TV don't look all that fast, that strong or that skilled, but believe me, get in the ring with one of them and it's a completely different story.

The difference in fighting skill between Joe Average and your run-of-the-mill amateur is huge, let alone a pro.

There might be occasions when a guy sucker punches a boxer or whatever, but face to face, man to man, he will kick your ass 99/100 times.

Its way ****ing harder than dumbasses think and it dosent look like the punches are so hard when your watching it on tv and seeing someone with a lifetime of conditioning taking the shots. Most people would be knocked down by a jab if they got in there with the top guys and sent to hospital or the cemetary by the right hand.

The **** is the point of this question? In a day and age of guns, adult fist fights don't mean much out in the world.

Boxing is a sport. The love for that doesn't mean anything in this context.

Doing it in a gym is one thing and is great, but challenging mother****ers on the street to fist fights is just stupid. You still go to jail for assault if the guy presses charges (or the police are called or see you) and you're still fined. And I don't know where you're from, but in the Bronx, you're more likely to be stabbed or jumped than to be in 2 consecutive fist fights.

If average Joe includes amateur fighters(boxing,mma,etc..), think of this:
pre-1996 Mayweather when he was still amateur will beat most featherweight pros at that time.

Have you seen that pro vs joes reality tv show? They put old has-been pro's vs the biggest geeks they can find... of course the pro's kick some ass. But they never get a "joe" who has talent and athletic ability.

anyways, I have been to Pro boxing cards that didnt impress me from the top down. In other words, YES I think i could beat some low level pro fighters. Also I fancy my chances in other sports as well.

I had two pro fights scheduled years ago and both fell through (not my fault). My dream would be to fight one pro fight!!! before I get too old. my problem is boxing isn't popular where I live and I don't know of any local promoters.
