ml, you were there! I saw it on big screen, I thought Duddy took a beating in scraping a win, BUT I THOUGHT HE WON THE THING MATE! I think you should go watch that video and report back :bart
Haha i know exactly what u mean!!in east end of glasgow everyone is irish but most prob never been there!! and the tricolour is hangin everywhere but ul struggle 2 c a scotland flag!! actually my great grandfather was irish and im a big celtic fan so maybe just put on accent and go 4 it haha.
Shamrock I go to all Duddy's fights and the atmosphere for this fight was not nearly as electric as prior fights. Like I said i have to watch the fight to get a better perspective I was just trying to paint a picture of the MSG environment.
I thought I could smell a bit of Donegal off ya alright - and the shorts were a bit of a giveaway! I got cousins in Erskine and Dennistoun and go to plenty of games meself.

cheers ml, I know how that must feel. Duddy did take a beating but got the win legit I think. Be interesting to hear from again after you've seen it again :good
Hello Ardy, and the rest of the fine Irish posters in this thread. I would like to congratulate you all on a very gutsy win by your own John Duddy. I would also like to appologize to you all for the ignorance of any American Posters who have been posting ridiculous **** today. I guarantee you 90% of the Americans talking horse **** did not even see the damn fight as HBO was too stupid to even show it to us. :fire You gentlemen have a lot to be proud of, and way to stand by your man-thick and thin. Here's to John Duddy's future continued success.:good
I agree Ardy, I get the feeling that he never really got the coaching he needs. I for one would love to hear Wayne McCollough's take on the fight, and how he thinks Duddy might improve. He's got a beautiful short, sharp jab, why doesn't he use it more?
Thanks Ml, for the fans perspective inside the Garden. I heard the booing on the TV after the fight, when Duddy was annonced the winner. I watched the fight live on Sky TV. One of the commentaters was Jim Watt[former lightweight champion of the world], and he made it 98-92 Duddy, the same as two of the judges.I thought Duddy won the contest, but was terribly disappointed in his defence. He doesn't seem to have improved any under Turner.I was all set for a trip to NYC on June for Duddy/Pavlik.It always been a dream to go to MSG and watch an Irish fighter fight for a world title there, I suppose I'm going to have to wait for another time.
