I'm so glad Ward beat Froch up

He has never said it was razor thin, just that it wasn't a shutout.

Had Froch won he'd get nothing but respect from me as he is now ..Look at the path he took to greatness ..All opinions aside how can you not respect his plite ?

 

I had Froch winning 115-113.

 

Froch won 2, maybe three rounds.

Even the Sky Sports guys struggled to give Froch rounds, they called the fight 117-112 for Ward and said that they were probably being generous to Carl. It wasn't a beating in that Ward was never close to stopping Froch and Froch was dangerous throughout, but he barely landed anything clean against Ward and you could easily made a case that Ward pitched a shutout on points. The rounds Froch "won" were purely on workrate, not on landed punches.

 

I find it hard to criticize Froch given the his choice of opponents. He may not be the best in the division, but he's certainly facing all of the best fighters at the weight, very few top fighters can say the same.

Love how people try to re-write history after the fact. I admire Froch, but he was comprehensively beaten by Ward. Completely taken apart. Won 2 or 3 rounds at most. John Keane was the only judge who scored it close to how it really was. Metcalfe and Stewart.. dunno what the **** they were watching to call it 115-113. Listening to Froch speak about it, it's obvious even he didn't see it that close.

 

No particular round was a shutout, but it was clear early on that Froch had no answer.

Ward won. But beating? There was more hugging in that fight than the porns I watch. ugly.

It was more outhussled out of the clinch than really outboxed.

 

It wasn't a beating, no. He didn't that big amounts of punishment. And Froch wasn't "completely outclassed". That's taking it to the extreme on one side.

But Froch wasn't really in it either. Like one poster above said: it was obvious he didn't have an answer. Ward made it into his fight and took it to Froch. He outsped him in the exchanges and was the stronger man. His chin hold up fine the few times it was tested. Calling it razor-thin just isn't right - no matter what the scorecards read.

I'd say, with reservation for that it was a long time since I saw it... In two or three rounds, you might constitute it as an outclassing. Three, four or so rounds were really close and could have gone either way. The rest, Ward won decisively but competetively. Froch gave him a challenge.

Three round isn't a full fight, so not an outclassing in that sense. Depends or your definition, I guess. But on my SCORECARD, he WAS outclassed. I only gave him two rounds if I remember and both of them could have gone to Ward.

Anywhere from 116-112 to 120-108 is a reasonable score. It was a competitive fight. But very, VERY decisive for Ward. If Froch beats Kessler decisively, he should get a rematch. Not before. The same goes for Kessler.

I can't help but think that Froch gets a little too much hype based on his last win and his commendable attitude, almost unparallelled in the sport.

Giving credit to that is one thing. Saying he's surpassed Calzaghe is quite another, and to be frank I'm astounded that some are making that claim. Dirrell made him look clueless for times. Kessler outworked him with help of his newfound bodywork. Ward was simply too good in most departments. To me, this doesn't constitute more status than being completely undisputed for some years (I'm NOT counting the WBO days), and going up to (closely) beat a still great fighter in Hopkins who outclassed younger, prime opponents both before and after that fight. And we have to count ability too. Froch isn't capable of doing what Calzaghe did to a prime Kessler, an old Hopkins or even an old Eubank. Calzaghe was firmly into the p4p top five for some years, whereas Froch struggles to get into the top TEN.

But credit to his attitude, and his very underrated boxing ability. He thinks much in the ring and actually has some versatility. Both Kessler, Dirrell and Bute couldn't find his head all that easily. His body is in fact more open, which Kessler and Dirrell showed.

He has a definitive place in my p4p top ten though, perhaps as high as 7 or 8. Ward is 3-5. Credit to both.

 

Froch won two or three rounds at most and dont forget Ward fought with injured hand. After the fight there was some uproar because the scoring was a joke! :bbb
