He is following the same script as Lemieux. If he doesn't step up in competition soon...he might meet the same fate as Lemieux. But with that being said...this kid is fun to watch.
Who can't like that guy. He is exciting to watch and he is humble. He will probably fight soon for a belt.
I'm on it... but I'm really suspicious after the recent Lemieux and Bute fights. Lemieux's got some FAST hands... A laser right hand that he loves to throw in combination after a nice short left hook. Like many other athletic fighters, he tends to drop his left here and there because he knows he can slip under most upcoming right hands. His chin is up in the air when he throws combinations. I honestly think a guy like Rios would eat him alive after 2 or 3 close rounds.
Apu is exciting but he's gonna fail at the world level. I'm Canadian and it kills me to say it but I don't see much of a future for him or stevenson at the world level.....Zewski either......unfortunately we produce a ridiculous amount of hypejobs and tomato can destroyers who look like absolute beasts until they meet a B+ to A level fighter.
Apou is a little beast. I don't know how far he'll go at an elite level, but he'll make a great TV fighter as long as he's around. :thumbsup
I do think that was Lemieux's problem. . . He was so used to blasting guys out, he bough into his own hype too much. . . A guy needs to gradually move up in class, not fight D level fighters, and then be thrown in with a tough-as-nails veteran who can crack like a mule. . . Also, they will believe in their own power too much, and when they've never been close to 12 rounds before, will blow their load early (like Lemieux). . . I think he'll be properly transitioned from C class boxers, to B class, etc. . His time will be sooner, rather than later of when he can prove himself, though.
Call me crazy, but Lemieux is not made to train in Canada. He sould find a good trainer in Mexico and spar with guys who can fight on the inside. He's a short guy for his weight and his arms are short. The problem is : he's not fighting like a short guy. His last 2 fights proved he won't KO any world class boxer the way he's fighting now. He must learn to get on the inside and work the body.
