Fights you feel fighters regret NOT TAKING. Obviously Bute-Ward

Mayweather vs De La Hoya in 2008:

Mayweather backed out of a rematch because he wasn't given the bigger split despite winning the first fight. Fight would have been @ 147 with the gloves he wanted and seeing how ill prepared Oscar was vs Pac chances are Mayweather would have looked great in winning the rematch. Instead he passed, retired, and let Pac come in, get the win and the mainstream rub from Oscar.

 

Calzaghe vs Dawson. Joe would have torn the hypejob to pieces before Pascal had a chance.

 

You see the obvious in fighters you seem to like and dislike......but......let's just throw Bowe v Lewis in there for ya.

Bowe ducked the **** outta Lewis b/c Lewis had everything....that is except a chin. I'd take a 35-37 y/o Lewis to crush a prime Bowe, but a 28 y/o Lewis is KTFO.:deal

A RJJ vs B-Hops rematch. had it happened in the late 90s I'm almost certain RJJ would've won it and would have 2 wins on his record. Also, didn't JMM turn down the Pacquiao rematch immediately after their first fight? I could be wrong on this.

 

Just because Froch destroyed Bute, it doesn't mean Ward would do the same. They have completely different styles. It might just be that Froch was the worst possible match up for Bute.

 

There are a bunch of fights Roy probably wishes he took in the 90's. IMO nobody was gonna beat that version of him and he could have proved it with an ATG resume.

 

Pavlik and Abraham must regret not fighting each other. When Pavlik was the lineal champion and Abraham IBF champ and next best fighter at middleweight I remember it being talked about and for good money. Then they took other fights and promptly got knocked right down the pecking order. There's no reason either should have thought they couldn't win the fight, either could have been a few million richer and a unified champion but instead got ass kickings. The loser could still have gone to super middle and been no worse off than they ended up being.

 

Little to strong term "torn apart" Joe would win decision but those slaps wont tear apart anyone:good

 

Ward may not have hurt and knocked him out early, but it'd still have been a very easy win for him.

 

Retrospectively having schooled him twice more and not been given a decision I don't think he'd regret it.

 

I think if he had fought him sooner, before Manny became the household name he later became, he had a better chance of being given a decision.

 

We don't know until the fight actually happens.

Ward is a very good fighter, and he's better than Froch. As a result, we can assume that he would easily win against Bute, but it's still just an assumption. Results come in the ring, not on paper or imagined fights. I don't actually care about Bute (I'd never seen one of his fights before Froch fought him) but I think it's silly of people to just assume Ward would easily walk over him just because of what Froch did.
