This is what annoys me about boxing boards in general.

You say anything that can be taken as slightly negative against Mayweather or Pacman people jump all over your post putting words in your mouth.

I never said Mayweather doesn't have a great chin (he does)

I acknowledged his defence is brilliant (but that's not what we're discussing, or so i thought)

I simply stated, because he doesnt get hit clean (hardly ever) it makes people like Froch and Mosley (who get hit clean a lot) easier to judge chin wise

What's difficult to understand about that?

I see your point, I just don't feel Froch's chin deserves to be mentioned among the best in the sport. The amount of huge shots he takes gets greatly overexaggerated. Glen Johnson is a guy that takes just as many big shots yet doesn't get hurt the way Froch does on a regular basis.

I wasn't trying to come to Mayweather's defense, I just hate how much people overrate Froch.

I'm just gonna be honest mate, i don't see how you can watch this guy's fights and deny that he has an iron chin.

He takes flush shots like most boxers take jabs.

I don't think his chin can be called into question by anybody.

And i'm not overrating the guy either, boxing wise his style is flawed in a lot of areas.

and against andre ward, he got a boxing lesson.

But chin heart and determination? he's got it in abundance :good

No, it's not. . . However, a best "defense" list is a list reserved for guys who have the best defenses! :good

I'd like to ask you a question..

You mentioned earlier that you thought Froch was "seriously hurt" against Kessler

My interpretation of "seriously hurt" in a boxing ring, is a guy who is about be stopped by the ref or KO'ed.

I just watched Froch-Kessler last week

and at no point during the fight did it seem to me Froch was anywhere near being stopped.

So can i ask, which round of the fight did you consider Froch to be "seriously hurt?"

Mauricio Herrera. Remember the FOTY against Alvarado. 10 Rounds auf Bombs, and he was never going down.

Bernard Hopkins has a solid chin, he has to be on the list. While he has been put down on the canvas, but unlike JMM he doesn't seem buzzed whatsoever, usually a shot to the back of the head and then he pops right back up.

Mayweather at number 1 is absurd. Floyd was knocked down by Judah and rocked by Mosley. Great ring IQ to never take a barrage of punches, but best chin in the game? Certainly not. He is top 5 for me. I CERTAINLY don't see how anyone can have James Toney or Vitali Klitschko below him.

Agreed. A fighter that has never been down should go above. Just because Judah's KD wasn't official, doesn't mean it never happened. I was just starting to think these guys were serious, but I now realize they are delusional nutthuggers of epic proportions due to the fact that they break their own rules of being unbiased.

I go back to what i said in the previous page about Mayweather, have we seen his chin get tested enough times to put him at number 1? personally i don't think so.

Some of the other fighters mentioned in this thread we've seen get hit clean a 1000X more than Mayweather and survive.

I don't see how anyone can confidently put Mayweather at number 1 because he quite simply doesn't get hit enough for us to know

And for the love of god!!!! if anyone quotes this post talking about how good his defence is, YES I KNOW. But we're talking about his chin
